  • Login problems: If you have trouble logging into the Iberia website, type in your number and password by hand instead of using autocomplete. For some people this fixes login issues.
  • Partner awards: Many flights on partners will not be available as one-way. You must redeem AA flights as a round trip for example
  • Cancellations: Iberia awards on AA cannot be cancelled.
Iberia Plus offer 9000 per booking 21/JUN to 24/JUN on iberia.com
Terms and conditions of the offer are to be found here in post 14.

So seems this is confined to accounts perhaps created during the promotional period. Your old account gets to partner award pricing, an account created today (July 20) can get to partner award pricing...

Yep, seems like it. I’m just disappointed that not even BA works...

I wish you all luck with your bookings. If you can, try and get them to hold the booking for you and email it to you real time before payment. We had one agent who heard 'December' as 'September', where this really helped.

You should ask to get the booking fee waived, but we gave up on this for our second flight after it took so long to find anyone competent enough to book it and it had previously repeatedly triggered hostility.

Do not ask for a supervisor, you will never get one. HUCA is the only option if the agent isn't competent.

This promotion, although generous, has convinced me I never want to fly Iberia. I have zero confidence in their call centres as a result of this and would never want to be caught relying on them in scenarios such as flight cancellations. We must have spent 2-3 hours on the phone to book 2 flights.
I absolutely agree with you. I spent over 2 hours last night trying to book simple MAN-MAD-PMI-MAD-MAN tickets. I was cut off several times and had to give up on getting the fee waived, being told it was my browser and not my account. Money saved in the end, but my stress levels are still returning to normal.

I subsequently got another mail saying they had forwarded my details to the avios department but since the account I used has been cancelled I can't imagine I will get anything. Going to wait another week and then ask for the refund!
Good luck! I was in the same situation with accidental duplicate accounts but I just cut my losses and emailed them with my 10 ticket #'s and asked for refunds. They promptly responded that they are processing them.

Reading it again, of course you are right. However no way would I risk testing it!

If I ever do manage to book anything with these Avios, I will treat it as non-refundable even before 1 Dec. I very much doubt they would redeposit the Avios.....

Just another set of datapoints while I'm here:

My existing account, 90K Avios depoited in timely manner at end of promo. No problem for me to price up the BA award I want
Wife's new account. 90k Avios deposited after verifcation/sending in 10 tickets. Can't price up the same award. We've transferred in extra Avios from Amex MR and that hasn't made any difference.Which means I can't book mine as we are travelling together grrrrrr.

It really does seem they have inhibited redemption for partners for new accounts created during promo. Which is not mentioned in any T&Cs, even the ones they retrospectively added when they issued the Avios. Absolute rubbish. Might have to call in to book but can't face it right now.

FALSE ALARM! Guys - try different browser. I just booked hotels with Avios.

Update - New account, locked but unlocked after sending verifications etc. When I try to book hotel using Avios, previously it just didn't get processed at the end of the booking. Today, I cannot even access to the Hotels booking page, showing the error We cannot offer you this service at present.

Update (since 2 hours ago!): Wife's account suddenly now works! 2 x BA F one ways booked, 2A and 2K nabbed on the 747. Got there in the end!

if you have been getting the error at point of pricing, I would try it again now.

Same here. I think I'll stay with my current flights and not rebook it.

Another data point for those interested. Made my bookings on 22-23rd June with new account, sent personal data rectification form on Jul 4th, resent everything on 17th, got an e-mail unlocking account on the same day and finally got my Avios on late 19th.

Had no problem redeeming my Avios for JL award over the phone (although took nearly an hour with the rep having really strong accent), and also ROM-MAD IB flight on the website.

I want to thank all the posters who kept me updated with the latest developments and shared their experience for the past 153 pages without you guys I wouldn’t persevere this long!

I received this email yesterday. Mine is an old account from 2015 and was never locked. So I have no idea why they need to "activate" my account.

Have not received any Avios so far. Any suggestion what to do? I did email them twice over a week ago, but did not include booking confirmations or passport, nor they asked for it.

Please accept our sincere apologies for the inconveniences we may have caused you for not being able to respond until today the e-mail you sent us regarding our 9,000 Avios promotion.
We correctly received your documentation and we would like to inform you that we have proceeded to activate your Iberia Plus account and to generate a new temporary access PIN code for you to enter into your Iberia Plus personal profile. You will receive it soon on the e-mail address associated to your Iberia Plus account.
Keep in mind that this is a temporary access PIN code; therefore, you must change it once you enter your profile.
In relation with the 9,000 Avios campaign for flights booked on iberia.com, we have reviewed your request and the information you supplied. We have sent the information to the relevant department for the awarding of the promotional Avios, if the information in your booking is correct, you should see these credit in your account during the following week.

Kind regards
Your Iberia Plus Service Center.

At last. It's been a long road but after getting miles posted earlier this week and waiting through the partner booking lockout, I have a BA First class ticketed booking for January and a CX Business ticketed booking for October. If I can fly one of these two trips, I will be breaking even on this promo (by my calculation), if I fly them both I will have saved about $1,500 in comparison to the prices I would have typically paid. And these are trips I was planning to take anyway, regardless of the promo. But...given how challenging Iberia has made this I am not planning to make any changes to these bookings, I just want to try to at least breakeven, I'd prefer to not deal with Iberia again in the future. If I end up flying one of the trips and the other goes in the trash, so be it, time to move on.

Anyone who experienced a phone call to their service center will understand that you will never get the same answer from two CS agents, and they seem to just make things up. I had three calls yesterday to try to book my flights and was provided with a different reason why it was "not possible" from each agent, and none of them made sense based on my understanding. Sure enough, now that the partner booking lockout has ended, I can book exactly what I wanted but was told was impossible. Iberia has made quite an impression on frequent flyers but it seems certain that despite giving away massive amounts of mileage they've probably done themselves more harm than good. T

A consequence of my eventual success in spending these Avios was that the BA F flights I booked replaced the inbound leg of a Virgin redemption. So I had to call up VS to cancel half the booking.

Which just served to demonstrate the massive gulf between VS and IB contact centres. Virgin unfailingly polite, friendly, helpful, patient, competent, knowledgeable, etc. IB: rude, arrogant, inconsistent, "this isn;t the right number for IB Plus" despite the fact it's the number on their own ******* website , etc

I worked in call centres in my youth and it's a thankless task. But even on my worst days, I was never that bad.....
