Update in Hyatt BRG policy (April 2019): If your BRG claim is approved, you can choose either 5,000 World of Hyatt points or an additional 20% off the matched rate for your stay (defined as consecutive nights at the same location). Rates available on websites that require membership which is free of charge, or where membership is automatically created as part of the booking, are eligible for BRG claims.

.................................................. ..........

Recent Experiences Using the BRG (2018 and later)

YES
  • Hotels.com - April 2019
  • Booking.com - May 2019

MAYBE
  • Skoosh - April 2019 (initially rejected as "membership site" but approved on appeal)
NO
  • SnapTravel
.................................................. ..........

Update in Hyatt BRG policy (July 2017): if your BRG claim is approved, Hyatt will match the comparable lower rate, but will no longer offer a further 20% discount on the matched lower rate. Instead, after your stay on the BRG approved rate, you will receive a US$50 credit (or equivalent amount in the currency of your country of residence) to use on a future stay (completed within 12 months) booked on a Standard Rate, Advance Purchase Rate or Member Rate on Hyatt.com.

Q. How do I receive the $50 credit?
A. About 3-4 days after your BRG stay, Hyatt will email you a unique rate code to apply for your new reservation. You can either click on the link in the mail to book the reservation or manually enter it into the booking at Hyatt.com.

Q. Can I use the code more than once?
A. No. The code is invalid when it has already been attached to a reservation.

Q. Can I use the code to lower a rate like AAA or Double Points?
A. No. The BRG code books into its own unique rate class and can't be used with any other promotional rates.

Q. What happens if I cancel my reservation with the BRG code applied?
A. The code will can be re-used for another reservation. For this reason, DO NOT DELETE THE EMAIL FROM HYATT UNTIL AFTER YOUR STAY.

Q. What happens if a lower base rate appears available after I book the BRG rate?
A. You can cancel the first reservation (assuming there's no penalty) and then rebook using the code for the lower rate.

.................................................. ..........

If you are dissatisfied with the response to your BRG claim, and it was processed by the Hyatt Service Desk in Omaha (9805 Q Street), you can consider filing a consumer complaint (link to online form) with the Nebraska Attorney General's Office (Consumer Protection Division). Note that the online complaint form requires you to fill in a correspondence address in the US (though you can state a preference to receive correspondence by e-mail rather than by post). As reported in Post # 2691, if the AG's Office decides to investigate, it is possible that Hyatt will review your BRG claim again and, in addition, offer points for the inconvenience.

If your BRG claim was processed by the Hyatt Service Desk in Marion (1120 North Carbon Street Suite 70), you can consider filing a consumer complaint (link to online form) with the Illinois Attorney General's Office.

Anyone have very recent success with centraldereservas.com? I saw upthread people had some successes. I just called and was told this site is ineligible because there is no instant confirmation because of the sentence on the site "We will charge the booking to your card once the booking is confirmed." Doesn't sound on to me.

I successfully BRG'd against centraldereservas just last month for a stay later this year at Park Hyatt Tokyo (http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/20966335-post478.html).

That sentence seems to me that it might have lost something in translation. It may be worth trying again and hoping for a less picky operator.

It might also be worth trying http://www.mein-hotel-online-buchen.de/ (as recommended by hailstorm).

I was finding that gave similar rates to centraldereservas for my BRG.

Thanks Mackdaddy. I will try again tomorrow and hope for a better operator. I am trying to get 5 nights at the GH Kauai. centraldereservas is pricing at 1215.37 euros. Mein-hotel is pricing at 1549 euros. I haven't been able to match the central price with any of my usual comparators. I really hope to get this one matched!

I called back this morning and after 20 minutes I was approved!! Thanks so much mackdaddy and MightyTravels for arming me with the knowledge that this site should work. I am doing a platinum challenge so these 5 nights are a big help!

MightyTravels, I am actually the person that was asking you on your blog a week or so ago about the LH stopover in FRA on the way to NRT, using UA miles. Small world!

Hyatt Regency Tokyo BRG Approved!

I just called the BRG Hyatt Line and got approved for the BRG at the Hyatt Regency Tokyo.

The rate on Expedia was significantly cheaper than the Hyatt Daily Rate and so they matched it and also gave me 20% off which was pretty sweet!

Does anybody know if I can use one of my suite upgrade certificates after booking through the BRG rate?

Cheers,

I've just purchased an advanced purchase rate on the hyatt phone line. Since found a lower rate by a measly £1 on hoteltravel.com

I've just phoned and had my claim refused since they "cannot modify an advance purchase rate, and the guarantee doesn't apply to this rate."

Sounds fishy to me, should I call back?

If the difference is the result of currency fluctuations, the rate does not apply: "In the event that the Competing Rate is in a different currency from the Hyatt rate, Hyatt shall convert the Competing Rate into the same currency as the rate offered on the Hyatt website. If, after conversion to the same currency, a Competing Rate is less than one percent (1%) lower than the Hyatt rate, then such competing rate shall not qualify for the Best Rate Guarantee. Such deviations are often the result of fluctuations in currency exchange rates and other factors beyond Hyatt’s control."

Of course Hyatt can modify an advance purchase rate, and how they handle it is right in terms: "If you have already booked a prepaid stay on Hyatt.com, and find a Competing Rate that meets the Guarantee terms and conditions set forth here, then Hyatt will refund the full amount originally charged to your credit card for the rate booked on Hyatt.com and charge the full stay based on the new rate to your credit card."

The BRG applies to the best publicly-available rate offered by Hyatt. You can see all the terms and conditions here: http://www.hyatt.com/hyatt/specials/...ferId=40501986
