I am new to this. What do I get if I choose Food & Beverage Welcome Amenity
or Complimentary Beverage? Is it worth choosing this instead of 1,000 points? Also, can the amenity be redeemed on an award stay?

Has anyone encountered issues receiving the 1,500 points for dining while on an award stay?

There are lots of issues with the dining points period - since its not tied to a stay - most wait staff have no idea how to handle these.

These points are supposed to be earnable without even staying at the property.

I had a few questions about the platinum extras certificates. Is there any hope at all of getting the Regency Club Upgrade on a FFN stay (at Hyatt Kauai). I understand that to book ahead of time, it needs to be on a paid stay, but do they ever offer this upgrade at the time of check-in?

My other question is whether it is possible to use several certificates to get several different food and beverage amenities throughout stay. If I am staying 3 nights, can I use 3 certificates to get an amenity each day of my stay?

Thanks for your help!

How long does it take for miles to post if one chooses bonus miles for a Plat Extras award? I want to send 500 miles to my ANA account so I can access *A ANA award tool w/o the workaround.

I just took a Plat Extra Bonus now, the confirmation screen says: " Thank you for your selection. Your bonus points or bonus miles will post to your account in approximately 2-3 weeks."

I've been taking Hyatt points, and they have been posting within a few days

I have a couple of Platinum Extras certs. On one of them (I think the one I received for qualifying for Platinum), the choices underneath the heading "Hyatt Hotels & Resorts" include Regency Club upgrade. So it appears that it's available for use at Hyatt Hotels AND Resorts. The fine print on the back, however, says not available at Hyatt Resorts. Anyone else notice this?

Based on what I've read on the forum it seems like it wont work at a resort, but I'll bring it with me to HR Maui anyway and see what happens.

Had been saving a Platinum Extras Certificate for a stay at the GH Kauai intending to redeem it for the Welcome Amenity. At checkin last week, the agent said she had never seen this type of certificate before and didn't think it was valid at the GH Kauai. She checked with the front office manager who said it wasn't, but they would make an exception and honor it. They said they are familiar with the certificate you get when you qualify/requalify for Platinum [they only referred to it as the "cream colored certificate"] which CAN be used at the GH Kauai (I actually used mine there previously without any problem) but, they do not accept the white Platinum Extras Certificate with the silver/gray on the back. I really don't see the difference, but there's probably more to it than I understand.

I emailed GP Customer Service and they said that acceptance of the certificate is essentially at the discretion of each individual hotel/resort and cited the terms on the certificate which say:

"This promotion is subject to the Terms and Conditions of the Hyatt Gold Passport program. The use of this certificate at some destinations is subject to government approvals, regulations, restrictions and applicable taxes and is void where prohibited. Hyatt reserves the right to alter or withdraw this program at any time without notice."

I asked if Hyatt or Gold Passport maintained a list of hotels that do not accept the Extra Awards certificates and GP Customer Service replied no. This being the case, it's possible that I could end up saving a certificate for a specific stay, only to find out at check-in that the particular hotel doesn't honor it. Should the expiration be nearing, I may not be able to use it in time for a stay at another hotel, which would be kinda unforunate.

Hawaii777, the expiration dates on those cert.s are printed so faintly as to be unnoticeable & routinely ignored. Although it's a shame about your trouble in Kauai!

I used a Platinum extras cert for a Regency Club upgrade at Huntington Beach Resort in May. It was the type of cert for requalifying for platinum. My stay was a paid night + a BWB night.

Can I use platinum extras certs as a diamond?

I have 2 platinum extras paper certificates that haven't expired. They are the white certs earned for stays 9 and 12. Can I use these for the dining bonus points now that I am a diamond? I know I can't earn them anymore or request any new certs, but these are awards I earned as a platinum and converted to certificates before I reached diamond.

Good Morning,

The Platinum Extras Certificates can be used until expiration regardless of tier status at the time of use. As far as property availability and participation in Upgrades that is something that would need to be communicated either at the time of reservation or before check in so that you are not surprised by the outcome.

Best Regards,

Nick H.

Nick,
Why is the expiration date so close? I just got my welcome packet and the cert is good only until the end of next month. That seems like a pretty short window in which to use it (and as it stands, I don't have any travel scheduled in September, so the cert will simply expire ).

One thing that is not clear to me regarding the Regency Club upgrades is whether the upgrade includes a true Regency Club room, or just access to the Regency Club lounge.

I was also not able to get any confirmation of upgrade availability in advance of my arrival at the hotel (Regency O'Hare) - and I had a choice between a lower "non-qualifying" rate for the upgrade, and a higher "qualifying" rate.

I chose the higher rate and am crossing my fingers that the upgrade will be available when I arrive. If not, I'll be pretty upset that I had to pay a higher rate just to have the opportunity to try for the upgrade.

I think my question may have been answered but it bears asking.... does the 3/6/9/etc stay clock begin anew each calendar year. I was left with 2 dangling stays in 2010 and am staying tonight and tomorrow at two different properties in DC. Can I expect a cert for my first stay or will need to wait for my third?
