The Platinum Extras Certificates can be used until expiration regardless of tier status at the time of use. As far as property availability and participation in Upgrades that is something that would need to be communicated either at the time of reservation or before check in so that you are not surprised by the outcome.

Why is the expiration date so close? I just got my welcome packet and the cert is good only until the end of next month. That seems like a pretty short window in which to use it (and as it stands, I don't have any travel scheduled in September, so the cert will simply expire
).
