Full service hotels in North America only. You get nothing in the rest of the world which is sad when compared to Starwood in recognising their top-tier customers. :(
So this, no amenities, and no Plat Certs basically mean that once I hit 25 1-2 night stays I don't stay in Hyatts except when needed. SPG already has some 33 stays and 65 nights by me this year. |

This is a point I noted on the comment form when checking out of the HR Delhi last week. At Starwoods I get upgraded to suites regularly. In 15 different stays during July-August I was upgraded to a suite 14 times at 7 or 8 different properties. At Hyatts, even when I make a request in the reservation due to special circumstances, I have yet to be upgraded to a suite. I am upgraded to Club Rooms but even some of these at certain properties are tiny.

Definitely a rung below SPG when it comes to recognizing top tier member esp in hotels outside of north america. already, there aren't many Hyatt outside of n america. and yet, there is no amenity points or suite upgrades.

The suite upgrade is an advertised benefit for PLATs at Starwood. It is not for Diamonds at Hyatt.

I am Diamond with Hyatt this year for the first time in about 5yrs, and just tonight saw this page on the website, regarding some sort of special stuff you get upon milestone visits:
https://goldpassport.hyatt.com/gp/en...ras_awards.jsp Stay 3 & 6: 1,000 Hyatt Gold Passport bonus points, 1,500 bonus points for dining*, food & beverage welcome amenity*, or a complimentary beverage** Stay 9 & 12: 1,500 Hyatt Gold Passport bonus points, 500 travel partner miles, 2,000 bonus points for dining*, food & beverage welcome amenity*, or a complimentary beverage** Stay 15 & 18: 2,000 Hyatt Gold Passport bonus points, 1,000 travel partner miles, Regency Club upgrade*, $10 Starbucks gift card, or a complimentary beverage** Stay 21 & 24: 2,500 Hyatt Gold Passport bonus points, 1,500 travel partner miles, Regency Club upgrade*, complimentary Continental breakfast*, or a complimentary beverage** I'm at 28stays YTD, and have not ever been notified of this, provided a cert of any kind, etc. What are these Platinum Awards exactly, and how do I rectify not having gotten them. Presuming, of course, I'm eligible for them. |

I am somehwat new to Hyatt - jumped in after Hyatt Place was initiated and FFN 2007.
Questions for those exprienced Hyatt elites - I have been mailed and/or earned several "Platinum Extras" certs - good for food/drink etc. Problem is that I did not realize these have a very short expiration window, and are now expired. Anyone have any luck redeeming 'expired' certs at Hyatt PLace? |

I'm not sure which awards are really applicable to Hyatt Place (perhaps some of the food/drink ones). I'm taking it that you mean that you chose the food/drink ones after you were notified of your choice. If that's the case I'm not sure what you can do except perhaps save them for use in California where there is no expiration date applicable. If they remained in your account as a choice, perhaps you can call Customer Service to see if they'll give you points.

Mdaecher, don't waste 'em at a Hyatt Place. U will get a much nicer amenity platter at a real Hyatt. Also, the exp. date is so faintly printed that most Hyatts would not even notice it.
KevinS, log into your GP acct., click on the Awards tab, then Pt Extras. It should list how many such awards are in your acct. As Peteropny posted above, the only worthwhile ones, now that UR Diamond, are the Hyatt points &or the FF miles. |
Platinum Extras Awards
I am a new Plat and have qualified for an award. the website indicates that my award is valid through 12/13/08. Does that mean if I claim a certificate for food or drink that it expires on that date or is that the last date I can chose points or certificate? thanks.

Not a full answer to your question, but for informational purposes: On about October 10th I ordered an Extras cert (to be used for check-in amenity). The date listed on the Gold Passport website was 12/31/2008.
The cert arrived about a week later, and bore an expiration date of 01/09/2009. It had been mailed via USPS, first class mail. |
I just realized that I haven't received any Platinum extras awards this year. I just made Diamond last month. Looks look I need Gold Passport to do an audit.
|
and i just found out why:
Dear Mr. XXX, Thank you for your reply. Reviewing your Gold Passport account, I found that you tier was upgraded to Diamond on December 21, 2007. I regret to inform you that Diamond members do not receive Platinum Extras awards. If you have any additional questions or additional concerns, please let me know. Best regards, Harry Gold Passport Customer Service So since I became Diamond in late 2007 for the 2008 year, I don't get any Platinum Extras certificates while I qualify for Diamond in 2009. |
Platinum Awards Question
I visited the website and saw this:
"Stay 21 & 24: 2,500 Hyatt Gold Passport bonus points, 1,500 travel partner miles, Regency Club upgrade*, complimentary Continental breakfast*, or a complimentary beverage** " Do I get "ALL" of the above or do i have too choose between the GP 2500 points or the partner miles? |
NewAgeTraveler - First off please allow me to welcome you to the Hyatt forum as well as to posting on Flyertalk.
You choose from one of the options. |
