My partner and I had a brief two-night stay at the Hyatt Palm Springs over MLK weekend, so I wanted to share some thoughts. We used 12k points/night.

- Location - in the center of town walkable to many restaurants and shops
- Room - I believe they are all suites with separate living/sleeping rooms with the bathroom in between. There is a (empty) mini-fridge and a TV in each room. The living room has an L-shaped couch which could easily sleep an adult. Our shower drained very slowly and was never fixed despite being reported.
- Layout - very quirky. There are several different spaces to the hotel. Our first room had a window fronting the interior courtyard. The living room was at the far end and had a city view. We switched because the double beds were too small. Our second room (405) was great. The entrance opened into the living room and was from an exterior corridor. The bedroom was in the back and faced the pool and mountains immediately behind.
- Parking - free without limitations on the street behind the hotel. Also, street parking nearby is free and limited to 2 hours between noon and 8pm every day of the week. There are no restrictions beyond that.
- F&B - didn't eat at the hotel. There is a manager's beer/wine reception every night between 4 and 5. The drinks and snacks are all cheap, but still a nice gesture.
- Facilities - didn't use the gym. The hot tub is *wonderful*. the pool looked nice and I'm told heated, although I would call the water tepid.

Overall, a great stay.

Obviously, I stayed there over 2 months ago, and the amount of the charge made no sense given my room rate.

Called over and over again to "Accounting" who refused to answer the phone, even when I called the front desk and the clerk literally walked to the Accounting office and confirmed that he was there.

After about an hour of this nonsense I called the FD again who could not begin to provide an explanation for the charge. My next call was to the Chase Fraud department, of course.

A good property but watch your CC bill. I wonder if it all is related to the Hyatt data breach.
I had a lot of problems with my bill there. What should have been straighted out with one phone call to the front desk on the day of checkout ... well it turned in to a month long drama to fix a clear cut situation. The property was inept at solving the problem and only multiple corporate interventions resolved the situation. I've stayed here multiple times over the years but after this fiasco post stay, I have a hard time imagining staying there again. Ever.

Palm Springs seems like a tough hotel market for the big chains. Many get pretty lousy reviews, are old, etc., and some of the newer options (like the SPG Tribute ones) have gotten panned. Any thoughts on a good chain option? Hyatt seems really old, and Andaz likely won't open for a some time.

Excellent 2 night stay here. Had booked 3 rooms, mostly paid corp rate and a free night award.
could choose any room I wanted, so opted for mountain view and pool view.

super super friendly staff at check-in, valet, breakfast (great quality too)
could choose anything from the menu as Globalist.

Daily free drink hour from 4-5 pm (soft drinks, beer, wine) with some appetizers (cheeses, veggie dip and nacho dip). Very nice gesture I thought.

no resort fees appeared on bill, free valet parking for the award night.

I just completed a two night stay here; rate was around $115 per night. The staff mentioned the period between Thanksgiving and Christmas is very slow and indeed I barely saw any other guests at the hotel. This was my second stay here with the last around five years ago. Some notes:
  • i was upgraded to an executive suite without asking; this is much larger than the standard rooms (suites) with a very large bathroom and larger balcony.
  • Staff was all very friendly.
  • To me, the location is perfect.
  • Ample free street parking immediately behind the hotel. We had no need for a car so left it there for two nights straight with no issues.
  • As others have mentioned, there is a very light free happy hour from 4-5 with bud, canvas wines, and cheese, crackers, and veggies
Some other observations:
  • the bathroom in our suite definitely needs to be renovated. Aside from the old style, there were several other issues; e.g. a towel bar (or something) was missing with the bolts that used to hold it just sticking out of the wall; there was a jacuzzi tub but all of the jets were caulked up; shower tile was in really poor shape; and (this is easily fixed) the toilet was running intermittently and did not flush well. Other furniture was also in tough shape.
  • Breakfast was supposed to start at 630; we went just before 7 one day and the restaurant was completely dark. The front desk agent was puzzled and said she had contacted management. Staff eventually showed up 10-15 minutes later. Not the end of the world but this did strike us as odd.
I thought this was a good value for money at the rate we paid but can’t imagine being satisfied if paying in-season rates. I did appreciate the upgrade and kind staff but I think this property could use a refresh.

Hyatt Palm Springs

Thought I'd post some updated info since it's been some time since anyone has reviewed this property. I'm currently doing my normal 3 night weekend stay here. Hotel is largely the same with one big plus. Both lobby elevators have been renovated and are now working. As a World of Hyatt Globalist (Gold Passport Diamond is still better name) member I have nothing bad to say about it. The staff is friendly and helpful. I like the valet parking and having my car in a cool, safe underground

According to My Hyatt Concierge, the Hotel is no longer a Regency. It is now under the Hyatt Centric brand which is puzzling since they haven't changed anything. It also means that stays here don't qualify for the current 2,500 bonus point promotion. As a frequent guest I continue to be treated very well here. Upgraded to my regular suite and resort fee is waived for Globalists. They got rid of the printed breakfast vouchers and happy hour drink tickets. Now we just order what we like for breakfast. Sign and charge to the room and it's still free. For complimentary Happy Hour (Sunset Hour) from 4-5pm daily just show your room key.

The biggest changes have to do with the area around the Hotel. The mall is gone with new shops and restaurants in its place. Just down Palm Canyon Drive to the South is Blaze Pizza along with a new Starbucks and a Tommy Bahama store and Restaurant. This Bahama serves a limited food menu and good drinks but is self serve. It is not a full service restaurant like the one on El Paseo in Palm Desert. The Rowan a 15 story Kimpton Hotel property with a rooftop pool and bar is open near the area where the Marilyn statue was. On the corner just North of the Hyatt is the new taproom for La Quinta Brewing Company that opened last week. By the way, construction has resumed on the Hyatt Andaz further North on Palm Canyon Drive.

All our favorites - NYPD Pizza & Bar, The Tonga Hut, and the Sandwich Shop which is awesome are all across the street. There's a new fruit bowl & beverage place too. Lots of other food and drink options nearby. Market night (the downtown food & street fair) continues year round on Thursday nights in front of the hotel. I counted 7 different ice cream, frozen custard and yogurt places within 2 blocks of each other on Palm Canyon so there's something for everyone. It was great to see two of our longtime favorites Sherman's Deli and Elmer's (get the German Pancakes) still going strong.

This is a great location to spend a few days and it's just going to get better. All the new places down the street have added to the variety in the area. There is still a lots coming like the new A.C. Marriott & the Spa Casino Hotels. Should be a big change from a few years back when it's all done!

Just got done with a two night stay this weekend. Not very impressed with this property. Quite dated rooms in need of updating and repair. Staffing could use some training/better management. $20 resort fee PLUS $25 valet parking per night (skip both -- park on the street and book with points). The location is okay; though you will not want a room that faces the main street as the dive bar across the street is loud. The rooms are large and location is pretty good if you want to walk to restaurants or shopping. My review with photos is here: https://singleflyer.com/2018/10/21/h...prings-review/

FYI, this information is incorrect. It is now neither Regency or Centirc, it is a "Hyatt" branded property. I just completed a stay here and fulfilled the "HYATT" brand on the Brand Explorer tracker in my account (and triggered the free night certificate! Woohoo!).

staying here after 2 years again. was planning to stay at the Andaz when we planned the trip... as it was due to originally open in Spring 2019.

used a TSU for the Cabana Suite. ok room. nice to have direct pool access.

but the rooms desperately need a refresh. worn out carpets, sofa and chairs with stains. bedding/matress too soft. Room generally looks a bit filthy. I can imagine that Hyatt is waiting for the Andaz to open first... so to at least have 1operating hotel in PS before remodeling... or maybe even torn down and rebuilt?

Any Covid-era experiences at this property?

Have been at the Hyatt Palm Springs several times the last few months. The City of Palm Springs has it's own Covid restrictions which are stricter than most other places in the state. For example, they did not allow most hotels to reopen until mid June. Be prepared to wear a mask in public spaces at the hotel and at restaurants elsewhere in the city. We like this property and were aware of the restrictions. Just know it won't be the same experience as staying here before Covid.

The only food service at the hotel is at the pool bar. It has a limited menu and does not serve breakfast. They are not doing the daily happy hour which was always in the lobby. There is no inside dining and like most hotels housekeeping is not servicing rooms. If you need anything it will be delivered to you. Valet parking is no more. The garage under the hotel is now self parking for a fee. The pool is open and usually crowded at least on the weekend.

Many of the local restaurants are open but are only allowed to serve outside or takeout. Keep in mind you may not want to dine outside if it's over 100 degrees. We did delivery from several restaurants to the room. Bars and nightclubs that don't serve food remain closed. You can get beer, wine & cocktails from the pool bar at the Hyatt.

One final note - starting this weekend the city will be closing the downtown blocks of Palm Canyon Drive to cars. Their idea is to allow restaurants to expand their outside dining areas into the street. This should make it easier to get reservations for dinner on Friday and Ssturday since they will have more tables.

Thanks, I believe wearing masks in public spaces in hotels is now required at all major chains throughout the US, so that's not PS specific. And San Francisco still hasn't allowed hotels to reopen for "leisure" stays, so I'm not quite sure this is any stricter than the rest of the state.

Wasn't aware that S.F. still had restrictions. I should have been more specific about mask requirements.

The city of Palm Springs has a mask rule specific to restaurrestaurants at several restaurants in P. S. a few weeks ago. Once we were seated for outside dining we took off the masks. However when the restaurant staff came to our table to take an order, refill drinks, clear plates or anything else we were told everyone at the table had to put their mask back on until the employee left the table. All 3 restaurants said this was a rule specific to the city of Palm Springs. It was causing quite a bit of confusion for guests and staff trying to enforce it a few weeks ago. This rule is only at restaurants in the city of Palm Springs. We dined in Palm Desert & La Quinta and did not experience it there.

Gotcha. That's the rule where I live, as well.
