Quote: The death blow to Globalist will be if they allow you to get it by signing up aka Hilton Surpass for Diamond.
Correction: Hilton Aspire card has Diamond status, not Surpass card.

Whether or not thats a blessing or curse depends entirely on ones point of view. The when everybody has elite status, nobody has elite status paradigm is mostly hyperbole. Elite status will always have perks and benefits, maybe not as much as some of us would like and maybe not as much as previously, but being treated like an elite will always be better than being treated like steerage class.

My guess is they give 10 free nights towards status with a luxury card and maybe give explorist status? I doubt they will give away globalist.

But the reality is with all the cheap service hotels, there will be a lot of globalists going forward fighting for upgrades at the full service properties like what happens with Marriott.

I'd rather see a luxury card give away free nights. Or more TSUs than make it too easy to get globalist.

Bit as I've written a lot, in already frustrated with globalist right now. I have 15 TSUs that I haven't been able to use

All depends on where and when you travel. In 2025 I got a few suite or junior suite upgrades at Hilton properties like Conrad Bali or WA Amsterdam.

In practice a particular status levels value is inversely proportionate to how difficult it is to earn. If this card gives higher value certs and better on property earning vs the current card, it's probably going to be worth upgrading to even if its annual fee is several hundred dollars more.

Just my opinion here, but I think that it's regrettable that Hyatt is now (largely) a credit card company, rather than a hospitality company that rewards its loyal customers. It's hard to believe that they are making more money off a cardholder than they used to make from my 180-190 nights a year in full service hotels.

I dont think that is a fair characterization. Hyatt gets about 4% of its EBITDA from credit cards (the comparable figure for Marriott seems to be about 7-9%), and the benefits that Hyatt gives through its cards are tame, since it does not award the status level that gets breakfast and lounge access, and requires significant amounts of spending to earn night credits.

Credit card income is extremely desirable from a business perspective because its high quality. Its basically pure profit: the bank partner handles the credit risk and the cobrand partner is able to monetize the brand with very little effort. To the extent Hyatt is able to achieve this extra income without notably diluting Globalist, I dont think its something you should look upon with disfavor. If anything, expanding credit card income relieves pressure on Hyatt to find other, more guest- and elite-unfriendly ways of squeezing out money.

Right now, Hyatt let's you spend your way to Globalist with their cards and it's a fairly high spend amount and definitely not worth it since you're giving up spend on another card that will give you better value.
A high Annual Fee will limit the number of Globalist-seekers, especially with all the other, broader high fee cards out there (e.g., CSR, AmEx Plat.)

Eh even a $1000 fee there are plenty of folks who will eat that especially if it comes with Cat 1-7 cert etc.

A 1-7 cert is almost never worth $1000. I highly doubt plenty of folks would take that bait.

For me it depends how many EQN come with the card. At the moment I'm spending ~ $60-$70K and staying the rest. The milestone rewards and Cat 1-4 are not generally worth it for me and if the new card gets me to Globalist with less spend it may be the way to go.
