Not exactly a "how" question, but I read that the transfers are supposed to be for the recipient to make a points reservation. Are there data points on this that indicate either a) how strict they are and b) if the recipient has enough points to make a reservation already is the transfer still allowed... even if one intends to make a booking?

I make tons of GOH reservations for friends, but Hyatt never asked me or friends what we use those points for.

My question is not GOH related really, but something like the following:
- Friend has some points. I have lots of points
- Friend transfers 25K points to me

- I book a stay for 25K as a GOH for my friend.
In this case, I get the points transferred in, use the points for a booking, but I already had points I could use for a booking. It seems to technically read that the transfer in is allowed to get enough points for a booking, not necessarily for any reason.

Hyatt website says, "Share points or eligible awards including; Free Nights, Points + Cash and select room upgrades with any World of Hyatt member. It’s a great gift idea or an easier way to plan a vacation with family and friends."

This is never questioned or enforced. You should, however, make sure the details match both accounts 100% because even a slight difference will see the transfer rejected and go back into the waiting time once you submit.

e.g. The email, address, phone number etc are exactly as the relevant WOH accounts.

For me: requested on Nov 30, transferred just now on Dec 13.

travelbugging Dec 17, 2022 3:22 am

Request sent oct 22 got denied on oct 24 because of my last transfer (I didn’t think they would respond in 2 days!).

Request sent nov 4 was ignored

Request sent dec 3, points transferred dec 11 (surprising).

Thanks for this current datapoint! I have done transfer many times in the past: the quickest was 1 day; the slowest was 7 days. And Hyatt may make mistake as well: once they deducted points from my friend (transfer out account) and also mine (transfer in account), and this was corrected by another follow up email.

Data point. Submitted 2/7 via e-mail, received 2/11. No status with Hyatt.

My husband has a free award night that comes with the Chase Hyatt credit card. Can it be transferred like points?

No, but hubby can book you a stay using it and you would earn the elite night for that stay.

I submitted the form to combine points by email. I filled it out online and on the signature line put the /s/ next to the typed signatures. I thought I had read upthread that someone else had submitted their form with typed signatures and it was accepted. Regardless, mine was rejected for having typed signatures. Resubmitting with actual signatures.

does the transfer form need to be signed with a wet signature or is an esignature good enough?

edit: nvm literally didnt read the comment above mine lol.

No justification for this taking 4 weeks long. I imagine the paperwork is just sitting on someone's desk for a long time.

Manual processes like this are ripe for automation.

Build the "Combine points" functionality into the Hyatt app. Have both members log in and securely confirm the transfer is valid. Transfers should happen instantly with superior security.

Are points combining requests being processed slowly lately?
