World of Hyatt Credit Card benefit details and notes
Anniversary Free Night Award (Category 1-4)
- Issued 10 weeks after cardmember anniversary date
- Expires 1 year after issuance
- Ineligible for use with Club Lounge Access Awards and Complimentary Suite Upgrade Awards
- The spend counter for this benefit tracks total cumulative purchases during the current calendar year (excluding $95 annual fee and any other non-qualifying transactions).
- The spend counter for this benefit resets at the beginning of every calendar year. Chase does not make this spend counter visible to customers, so interested customers must calculate their own. Note that this is a separate spend counter from the "Two Additional Night Credits" spend counter below.
- Issued 1-2 days after statement closing date of the triggering transaction (the transaction causing the spend counter to cross $15k)
- Expires 1 year after issuance
- Ineligible for use with Club Lounge Access Awards and Complimentary Suite Upgrade Awards
- Cardmembers are eligible for only 1 Additional Free Night Award per calendar year (e.g., spending $30k does not result in two Additional Free Night Awards
- The spend counter for this benefit tracks total cumulative purchases since account opening (excluding $95 annual fee and any other non-qualifying transactions)
- This spend counter never resets. Chase does not make this spend counter visible to customers, so interested customers must calculate their own. Note that this is a separate spend counter from the "Additional Free Night Award" spend counter above.
- Issued 1-2 days after statement closing date of the triggering transaction (the transaction causing the spend counter to cross a multiple of $5k)
- For World of Hyatt status qualification purposes, the night credits are associated with the TRANSACTION date of the triggering transaction, not the posting date and not the statement closing date. For example, triggering transactions on 12/31/2022 (transaction date) will result in 2 night credits for the 2022 status year, regardless of posting date or statement closing date. Based on FT reports, transaction date appears to be based on the US Eastern Time Zone.
- World of Hyatt Credit Card: timing for $5k spend 2 qualifying nights
- 4 Bonus Points per $1 spent on purchases at Hyatt hotels
- 2 Bonus Points per $1 spent on restaurants, airline tickets purchased directly from the airline, local transit and commuting, and fitness club and gym memberships
- 1 Bonus Point per $1 spent on all other purchases
- Discoverist status every year
- 5 qualifying night credits every year
- No foreign transaction fees

What has been suggested by the data points provided here is that if, on Dec 31, you have enough spend to go past a $5000 threshold, you will get the nights associated with that spend in the "old" year. However, any excess (less than $5000) will be carried over to the new year.
So say your statement closes on the 15th of every month.
- On Nov 20th you got a card. Between Nov 30 and Dec 15, you spent $6000. So on Dec 15 your statement closes, you get 2 qual nights, and you have $1000 of "carry-over" spend.
- Then between Dec 15 and Dec 31 you spend another $6000. So on Dec 31 there is no statement but you get another 2 qual nights for the "old" year. You have $2000 of carry-over.
- Then between Jan 1 and Jan 15 you spend another $3000. That brings you to $5000, so on Jan 15 your statement closes and you get 2 qual nights for the new year.

No, I think it's a mix.

I'm not so sure.
My first statement in December was a bit under 2K. My statement in January was a bit over 8K. Together they are a tad shy of 11K. I only received 2 status nights whereas if the 2K would have carried over I'd have 4 status nights, no?

Based theory of VegasGambler, you should have received 2 status nights on December 31st and 2 status nights in January. Have you checked your WoH account? It may not be obvious if those 2 status night in December didn't trigger special bonus.

Well, they aren't exact numbers, but if 1950 is under 2K and 8500 then we could add them up to get close to 11K. They only thing that is important is that they are over 10K.
Ok if we are going to go to that level. The closing statement in December, and actually the entirety of spend since card opening was $1,240. The next statement in January was $8,830 thanks in large part to CX!
So the total is 10070. There is no way that 2 nights should have credited to 2018.
That said, this includes the payment of the annual fee, so perhaps that doesn't count and I ended up at $9,975, just shy of 10K?

Using these numbers, the question is, how much of the $8500 came in December? If it's $3050 or more then you should get 2 nights for 2018 and 2 for 2019
#942
If this is based on calendar statement cycle, then Chase will calculate how much of your $8k spending fell on 2028. If the $2k plus the rest is > $5k, then you should receive 2 night credit for 2018 and possibly 2 night credit for 2019. But I guess Chase knows what it is doing.

When does the free night for 15k spend usually show up? My statement was a week ago and I don't think its posted yet. I got one free night but that was also my anniversary statement so I think the one I got was for that. Should I contact chase or hyatt about this? Thanks.

On a separate issue, when I called about earning the remaining 20,000 WOH points, I learned that their records show the account opening date was 2 weeks earlier than I had expected. I think they used the application date rather than the starting date of my first statement. The account opening date does not appear anywhere. If you are coming up on your 6 month deadline, make sure you know what date they are using for account opening.
