Do other Globs feel Privé is undermining WOH room-to-suite upgrade potential? The “it’s totally up to the property” language is nothing short of gutting this #1 or #2 most coveted Glob bennie at Privé properties. I’m surmising you could land a suite at Andaz Amsterdam for a €440 room rate regardless of WOH membership. Obviously Privé property credits and free fourth nights are beyond the terms of the WOH program and totally fair in their own right.

And it’s greatly appreciated by me and many in the community, thank you for taking your time out to guide us and help with Prive questions.

I’ve heard of Hyatt properties granting suite upgrades to people with low or no status, this happens more often than you’d think. Mainly to be who stay at a specific property often for personal or business stays.

I really do think that Prive’ Pre-upgrades from rooms to suites are pretty rare though.

In this instance I booked a Standard Room through Prive’ and was upgraded to a Junior Suite. I have never stayed at this property before.

As I said in the original post it could be due to a combination of it being a Prive’ booking in addition to holding Globalist Status (so they figured they’d likely be doing the upgrade anyway), or it could’ve been due to low projected occupancy so they wanted to entice us to keep it rather than cancel or any combination of the 3 we’ll never truly know. But as I said I made another booking after that for a stay next month and a don’t believe I was pre-upgrades to a Junior Suite or any Suite. So it likely could’ve just been a fluke as well with the first booking.

- Privé agent calls WOH and applies TSU to confirm Andaz Suite (regularly €632/nite)
- then apply Privé benefits and confirm Andaz Large Suite (regularly €672) plus food/spa credit and fourth night free?

Simply trying to understand how to maximize Glob/Privé combo benefits here....

- and based on what ur saying, Privé only booking (non Glob) would only be able to get the nicest (non-suite) room confirmed, and for €92 higher than Glob non-Privé?
To use your example:

A Glob can book at 352 euros and apply a TSU to guarantee the suite.
For a Prive booking, the rate is 440 euros and the upgrade is whatever the property feels inclined to offer.

Based on this example, I see little room for a Glob to complain.

And you seem to have not understood what I meant by "defined" benefits (vs guaranteed benefits). The defined Prive benefit is upgrade from room to room or suite to suite. While not impossible, under normal market conditions it would not be that likely to get upgraded from a base room to a suite (I have been turned down when requesting a Prive upgrade from the highest room category to a base suite, even though the rate difference was less than the equivalent of US$50). Maybe now with such low occupancy rates properties might feel more generous. It is also worth noting that with Prive, properties are allowed to refuse even a one-category upgrade depending on anticipated occupancy.

Prive is really not much more than an enhanced version of Virtuoso. More availability at Hyatt properties and an upgrade confirmed at booking rather than the "if available at checkin" that is more common with Virtuoso. Over the years when I was Dia/Glob I had no gripes with Virtuoso infringing on my benefits and think it is a bit much to think that Prive is taking suites away from Globs.

No. Some properties only do Prive upgrades to the letter of the law eg. one category or will even refuse citing availability. Being a frequent (and high spend) guest of the hotel matters more.

Aren't you being a bit self-deprecating here, understandably so as to not be self-aggradandizing? My impression is that the property sales manager working on Prive reservations is primarily interested in pleasing agents who they believe capable of directing more guests to the property (as opposed to prioritising repeat stays by individual guests).

It would also seem obvious that some agents would be better at negotiating with properties than others. (Disclaimer: I've been very satisfied with some non-standard conditions that bcosinteno negotiated for me. I'm sure that there are other agents who could have done the same, but I feel equally sure that there are some agents who could not.)

Appreciate the kind words. We always try to take great care of our clients and we are fortunate to have a great relationship with both individual properties and the corporate Privé team.

I suspect that some agents are more willing to bother negotiating on behalf of a client and some probably do this more for their own frequent or high spending clients. Moreover, some agents are more known to the property, perhaps due to site visits or booking many clients previously, which must help at many properties too. YMMV.

We did not receive any amenity from Andaz Savannah recently. However, we did receive upgrade to Andaz Suite, which is not a Prive perk, so maybe that was Globalist suite upgrade.

It is an unusual time and there are a few properties who aren't currently doing welcome amenities. Those practices should be changing after a Privé wide call with Hyatt next week.

Andaz Savannah is the one and only Andaz property I’ve frequented that’s in dire need of rebranding - to a Hyatt House or Hyatt Centric to be slightly more charitable. There are other threads to this effect.

It’s the worst Andaz I’ve been to or seen. It should be rebranded to Hyatt Centric. Still nice, but not the same Andaz expectations that clearly fall short.

Here's a quick tip for people that are interested in Prive, but don't want to be constantly emailing an advisor asking for quotes.

On Mobile Only (iOS, possibly Android) you can search with the Prive rate code of 37859 to see the potential rate options for any participating hotels. This does NOT work in a browser.

For example, looking at Andaz Mayakoba for 10/29-11/2, Prive has three rate quotes:
- Regular Prive
- Prive All Inclusive
- Prive 3rd night free

Note: I would NOT book these yourself (these are specifically travel agent fares, and if you're not a travel agent I wouldn't be surprised if hotels don't honor the rate or benefits). BUT, it's a fantastic tool to just look at the rates for yourself when determining which hotel/room/rate to choose and then contact a Prive advisor for booking exactly what you want without a bunch of back-and-forth.

(If people would prefer for me to delete this post to keep the information private, let me know).

on not booking yourself. Without the IATA number of a Privé agency on the booking, the hotel is under no obligation to honor the amenities. Same thing applies to STARS or Luminous rates. While you can bring them up on marriott.com, those amenities do not apply without a valid IATA.

And Hyatt now has a system in place (they didn’t a year ago) to flag and void Privé reservations without the Privé advisor ID and Privé approved IATA.
