This thread is for the World of Hyatt Globalist members to share the experience of room (suite in particular) upgrades members receive at various Hyatt hotels and resorts. This is not about the suite upgrade by using TSU (Tier Suite Upgrade) certificate. It is discussed in a separate thread. https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/hyatt-world-hyatt/1825293-world-hyatt-globalist-experiences-tier-suite-upgrades.html

All WoH members receive two (2) Tier Suite Upgrade (Suite Upgrade Awards) certificates by reaching 50 Qualifying Nights or 80,000 Base Points Milestone Awards. By reaching 60 Qualifying Nights or 100,000 Base Points Milestone Awards, all WoH members also received two (2) additional Suite Upgrade Awards (TSUs) to a total of four (2) Suite Upgrade Awards (TSUs) each year. By earning the last Milestone Awards, the WoH member also reaches WoH Globalist status and receive other elite benefits.

By using the TSU awards, the suite upgrade (to standard suite) can be confirmed at booking or any other time before check-in. Most likely only standard suite can be confirmed. Without using the TSU awards, room upgrade normally can't be confirmed.

According to WoH membership terms, https://help.hyatt.com/en/hyatt-terms/world-of-hyatt-terms.html?icamp=woh_benefitbadges_terms#/VC

(c) Best Room Available: Globalists will receive the best room available at the time of check-in at Hyatt hotels and resorts, including Standard Suites and rooms with Club lounge-access. The best room available will be determined by the applicable hotel or resort in its sole discretion and may vary from stay-to-stay. The “best room” may, but will not necessarily be, of a room type/category higher than that booked by the Member. Best-room-available benefit includes only Standard Suites (where available), which are defined as rooms within each participating hotel’s or resort’s introductory suite category. Premium, Specialty, Premier, Presidential, Diplomatic, and other suites other than Standard Suites are not included in this benefit. Not valid at Caption by Hyatt, Hyatt Place, Hyatt House, Destination Residences, or Hyatt Residence Club hotels and resorts.

Some Hyatt properties will automatically recognize WoH elite status and inform member about the room upgrade opportunity. If room upgrade is not mentioned at check-in time, then member needs to request at check-in time or any other time before room is assigned.

Small Luxury Hotels does not recognize most of the WoH elite benefits. So often, room (suite) upgrade is declined.

O8 basically gave me nothing (breakfast I suppose?) even though suites/corner rooms were available on the website for my stay. A 'quiet' basic room, that looked into another building and a construction site. Didn't ask for an upgrade.

Good luck everyone.
A good data point for the night-and-day difference between the GH and the O8 in Seattle in terms of service and Glob treatment.

I'd be hard pressed to find a night-and-day difference between GHS and O8. In fact, I've had non-DSU upgrades to luxury suites several times at O8, and the presidential suite once. GHS has a lot of small suites, and they generously upgrade if there's availability, but I've also had a fair number of stays without any upgrade. Seattle can be very busy, but both hotels are great by US standards, imo.

Hyatt Centric Waikiki

This weekend, we were presented with a choice of a Deluxe Room or a Junior Mountain-facing Suite at check-in. We took the Jr. Suite for our stay.

In general, we have been treated very nicely at all three Hawaii Hyatt properties, but the Hyatt Place and Hyatt Centric usually place us in Suites or very-large-rooms without having to ask. Ever.

The HR Waikiki is just busy year-round with the Japan market. No one can ever expect to get a Suite there, but you'll often score a beautiful waterfront room as a Globalist.

No upgrade, even after enquiring about suites. Told "We're completely sold out." Executive Suites (the category DSU books into) still available on Hyatt.com at 8:45pm for allthree days of my stay.

Actually TSU here books into the "City View Suite" which is an invented category below the Executive Suite.

(I didn't ask for the upgrade, and it was clear the suite had been allocated to me before check-in because there were a couple of personalized welcome letters there when I entered.) I assumed this was a better-than-basic suite, but Grand Club reception staff told me it's just the entry-level Grand Suite. So I guess there are no unimpressive suites at this hotel.

This week I'm at the GH Erawan Bangkok for a 7-night paid stay so decided to use one of my suite upgrade certificates. I got a large 21st floor (2nd from top) corner suite with panoramic park-city-Central World views. GC staff tell me this is only one level up from a "standard" suite, of which they say there are only four, all on the 11th floor. So it sounds like they've given themselves a lot of flexibility to upgrade or not, whether or not the guest is using a certificate.
Good to hear about the GH Jakarta. I got a 2 night stay coming up in a couple of days and will report back.
Since the change I only stayed at 2 FS Hyatts
GH Bangkok - 3 night stay.
GH Denver - 1 night and received a suite, but needed to downgrade as 2 beds were required.

Upcoming stays in the next few weeks are
GH Jakarta. Checking the app, there are plenty of grand suites available.
PH Sydney. Not expecting a suite but all room types are open. So I'm expecting a opera deluxe.
PH Mendoza. Their basic suites seem to all be occupied (lowest available is governors suite) . So a Andes view room will probably be what I'll expect.

My experiences last week:

Hyatt Centric Waikiki - Used a TSU which booked into a City View Suite, upgraded to an Ocean View Suite at checkin

Hyatt Place Waikiki - Got some kind of upgrade to a larger room with a balcony

Hyatt Regency Maui - Upgraded to Deluxe Ocean View room, no suite

Hyatt Regency Thessaloniki

Just returned from a total of 7 nights.
Had booked 2 rooms.
1 room for 7 nights using a TSU
1 room for 3 nights standard - no further upgrade

no further upgrades for any of the 2 rooms, we also did not specifically ask, as we enjoyed that the 2 rooms were connecting rooms. even the standard size room is big, huge bathroom, separate walk-in shower and tub.

All room types were available for the entire stay.

This has become a long thread....., apologies if my question has already been asked or commented.

Does anyone have experience of being upgraded when holding multiple reservations. I have a couple of stays in October where I am paying 3 rooms. Would 1 room potentially get an upgrade, 2? or all 3?

thanks for any hints

Why would you even expect an upgrade for more than the room you are in?

It's way out of the published benefits... but a property can do whatever they want. However I doubt it.

Most of us are content with a suite upgrade for ourselves and one for our giraffe.

Hyatt Regency London - The Churchill

Per colleague who is currently at HR London:

"Globalist upgrade here - Executive suite - had to insist and receive manager approval - ridiculous"

Unbelievable.

That isn't the entry level suite, though, is it?

It's not. It looks like the guest either didn't understand the suite upgrade benefit or had unrealistic expectations.

Or didn't know which suite is entry level. It can be hard to tell.
