If there's a separate inventory for P&C reservations, then if the web site shows no availability for a base level room, is there still a chance that there might be availability for a P&C reservation?
|
I doubt it..... I always assumed P+C is based on a subset of the generic award availability. But probably a property has a lot of leeway here in offering availability, for instance by offering a P+(extra)C for suite availability.

Points & Cash - MASTER THREAD
They might... But I was thinking more about properties like the PH NY that seems to offer the option for a non-standard option to get into a suite with points and extra cash.
But I've seen properties be flexible. I once got offered a paid stay (corporate rate) plus points to upgrade to a club room and then some additional cash to get in a 2 bedroom. So I think anything is possible when dealing directly. |

I've had exactly one occasion when the P&C rate was not available. . The paid-stay rates were all sky-high (therefore obviously the hotel was near capacity) but strangely the hotel had an all-points reservation available.
I hung up then phoned the Hyatt Diamond line again the next day. The P&C Rate was available so I booked it. Surely one data point does not make a trend but hopefully this info might be useful to other frequent travelers.

I have contacted several properties directly when GP has told me there was no P&C availability and they have opened it up for me. In those cases I had award reservations and the hotel changed them to P&C.

Can't DM them until they follow me. I started following them weeks ago but not following me yet.

Earlier this year there was some talk about the ability to book points and cash online at some point this year and I was curious if there had been any progress in this regard.

Does anyone know if it's possibly to book a points & cash room, and then use points for a suite upgrade on top of that?
I tried searching for the answer but I couldn't narrow the search enough, so I apologize if this has been covered at length before. Thanks! Kyle |
