What are the ways to find out this rating? Can you do it only while you are still physically there? Are you able to find out for a future stay?

Given that this is an internal code used to rank incoming and in-house guests, I do not think you will find too many properties willing to tell you your ranking or the system they use to figure such (other than the general comments made here).

My experience with Hyatt Place is that not only is nobody a VIP, everybody is a nobody to them.

Requests or concerns directed at the hotel made after or at check-in may be handled differently based on the assigned score given to a customer.

You just replied to someone who hasn't posted in 5 years!

But your comment is nonetheless valid. For example, if one is unhappy with their room assignment, the VIP code could definitely make a difference in where they were switched to.

In the interest of keeping a ten-year-old thread alive, here's a couple links to prior discussions:

I stayed at the Park Hyatt Shanghai and was V2 (as indicated on the concierge's screen), even though it was my first time there.

Pfft, the President hardly ever stays in a Hyatt. V4 at most.

Sure, I'm just sayin' the President of the United States should have to earn Hyatt status like anyone else. As if the guy (regardless of who it may be at any given time) doesn't have enough entitlement issues already, sheesh!
