The way it sounds even if they did not I would opt for it. Is there any underground passage way aka via shops to the Grand? Thanks.

No underground passageway but the connecting road on the side nearest the GH isn't very busy, so I don't think it'll be a huge problem, but maybe I am overconfident since I've crossed this street many times and never had a .........arrrrrrrrrrggggggggggggggggghhhhhhhhh!

Like it.
As a starter. The street between the two hotels has a crossing light so no problem. A bellman from the PH escorted me over to the GH.
This Hotel has been on my list for a long time. Happy to be here. I liked the PH but this is very comfortable and the Lounge is a huge plus. I have a very comfortable room on Club with a slight offset view of the Bund. The angles make it very interesting as it contours the structure. The room has been written about before so will not bore you. A negative is that you can not see the tv from the desk so on wireless which as D comp.. The do have kinda a neat little amenity kit which you can obviously take which has a GH name on it. Regards from the GH

Staying at this hotel for the first time. I took 2 elevators to check in at the club lounge reception on the 83rd floor. Yes, 83rd floor. Honestly, I did not like the reception desks and chairs just a few meters outside the elevator doors. When the elevator doors opened, I was sort of overwhelmed with 7 people greeting me to welcome!!
I got assigned to a room on the top floor which is the 85th floor. The room is average among most Hyatts in Asia, nothing outstanding except the view. Having moved today from the Hyatt Bund, I do feel the rooms of GH Shanghai look a bit tired and may require some refurbishments within a few years to stay competitive. The view from my room would have been nicer if it were less hazy. Too bad I could hardly see the bund from my room early afternoon. It became clearer later in the evening.
The food and beverage during cocktail hours are quite nice with a magnificent view of the TV tower and the bund. Having stayed at Hyatt Bund and GH one night each, Hyatt Bund is to my liking but I will probably stay at both hotels next time too because they are equally good. Even so when travelling with my family using the UG certificate.

Regency Club GH Shanghai
I am a Hyatt Platinum member and have made reservations for ten nights at the Grand Hyatt Shanghai for April 2010. When I made my reservations, I asked to use points to both upgrade me to a suite and to obtain Regency Club privileges. Unfortunately, the Hyatt rep told me that I can use points either to upgrade to a Suite or to obtain Regency Club status, but not both. The rep claimed that the system in place simply does not allow use of points for both upgrades on the same visit. When I was in Beijing about a year ago, I was given a suite with points, and the hotel also graciously gave me access to the Regency Club privileges that made the trip a wonderful experience. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I can ensure that I will obtain both a suite and Regency Club privileges for my forthcoming Shanghai visit?

What Kitty says - I've never come across a Suite that didn't allow RC access or a choice of breakfasts either in RC or full buffet in the hotel restaurant. Let us know the response you receive from hotel itself.

I believe for a 10 night stay, you would need 3 x 6000 points to upgrade to a Suite (each 6K points allow upgrade for up to 4 nights in a Suite).
Once your Suite upgrade is confirmed, you will be allowed access to the Club. The reservation agent in the US may not necessarily know this info. For additional peace of mind, once you get your upgrade confirmed, email the hotel.

Regency Club GH Shanghai
I want to thank everyone for your very helpful advice concerning my effort to ensure that I would obtain RC privileges along with my suite at the Grand Hyatt Shanghai. As suggested, I emailed the duty manager at the hotel and received back a very kind reply from the Reservations Manager assuring me that “basically, all our Suite rooms have full Grand Club access.” Thanks particularly to Kitty Peng for providing me with the email address for the hotel duty manager.

Diamond Breakfast / F&B Amenity
We will be using some BWB nights in Shanghai in August, and still undecided on whether to stay at PH or GH.
Could someone who's stayed at GH Shanghai recently advise what the Diamond amenities are... e.g.) wine? continental breakfast at club lounge or buffet breakfast at coffee shop?
Thank you in advance.

I really like the Park Hyatt Shanghai. As others have posted you will get a lovely tart and bottle on red wine for your amenity. Then your butler will bring you a nightly desert. The breakfast buffet at the dinning room is very good. I like the 100 Century Avenue Restaurant and bar. Definitely check out The Music Room located on the 91st floor. Live music and lots of fun on the weekends!
As for room assignments, in Asia it's really a matter of being a frequent guest and having your profile annotated as to your preferences.

Is the bottle of wine standard, or seem to happen only sometimes?
Sorry to threadjack--no experience at GH Shanghai or Hyatt on the Bund, but PH was very nice. I was very torn with which Hyatt to stay at using BWB's while in Shanghai. If I had been at the hotel during the afternoon or early evening, the regency club at the GH would have been nice, but I was out from morning until night, so I picked PH. Rooms were fantastic. Free wifi for all guests at PH.
**It was actually 2 consecutive nights, but due to BWB availability at time or reservations, they had to secure two separate room types. At check-in, could not put me in one room for both nights, so moved me for the second night. Got a second welcome letter/fruit tart/apples/etc, so experienced it like a second "stay."
