The shortest flight from Male Domestic terminal to Kooddoo Domestic Airport is ~55 minutes and the longest flight takes ~1 hour 45 minutes due to a ‘stop over’ in Kadhdhoo Domestic Airport.

A scenic and short speedboat journey of approximately 30-40 minutes (weather dependent) will follow as the final stretch of the journey to our island.
Any last minute name changes on domestic flight ticket are subject to a fee levied by the Maldivian Air. All such changes will be charged at the rate of USD 100 net per person. The exact flight timings are released two days before departure, but tend to be around these times:
  • Arrivals (Departure from MLE) : 10:30-11:00, 12:00, 13:40, 17:30hrs and last flight at 23:30
  • Departures (Departure from Kooddoo) : 0545hrs, 0800hrs, 1130hrs, 1530hrs and last departure at 1830hrs

Excess baggage will be charged and is subject to space availability and terms and conditions of the Air Carrier.

Map of the resort
Best Villas
Water villas: Generally the higher number the better. #51 is the most private
How to save money during stay
Have late breakfast (breakfast is free for all guests except if you are redeeming points), skip lunch, and only pay for dinner
The Saturday free cocktail social (manager's reception) is at 6:30pm
Bring family?
This resort is not orientated for children. No kids club, pool is not suitable for young kids, and you will need to pay the transfers for each child, and plenty of PDA.
That said, some families have loved their experience here. http://travelsort.com/blog/park-hyat...hadahaa-review. If you bring children the Hyatt does provide sitting service for $20/hour.

Also note that the resort charges $250 per child age 3 and up per night (even if the child does not require an extra bed). Only kids 2 and under are free. http://travelsort.com/blog/park-hyat...a-bed-fee-ever
Wifi
As at January 2022, the resort's wifi speed is 10-12Mbps.
Tipping
The management views employees as each part of a team, with no one more important to the hotel's success. No one wants to order room service if the groundskeeper or housekeeper has not created an inviting place to enjoy it for instance. So employees share equally the 10% service charge added into everything, including the room charge. Tipping beyond that is not necessary, but at your discretion. Unlike the service charge which is shared with all employees on the entire property, if you choose to add additional gratuity to the bill for a meal or an activity, that money is shared amongst employees of the department responsible for that meal or service (e.g. additional gratuity on a dive center bill will be shared amongst those employees, while additional gratuity on a Dining Room bill will be shared amongst the food service employees). Employees are also allowed to keep cash tips that they receive directly. Employees are rewarded with trips and other gifts when their outstanding service is brought to management's attention. A great way to reward a good employee is by letter to management.
See this post which provides more details http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/22508516-post1525.html
Ipad App
There is an Ipad in each room that has an app with a lot of useful / interesting information. If you have an Ipad, you can search & download the app for: Park Hyatt Maldives Hadahaa. It doesn't work on an iPhone due to the page size. Some info may be out of date or missing, so check with the resort.

I got an email about 10% early bird special for reserving thing ahead of time and wanted to know if there's anything that is worth it. I have read the special dinners don't seem to be that great.

Also, how have the upgrade experience been? I checked and saw that for parts of our stay, the beach pool villa was available. Will they proactively offer to upgrade us for parts of our stay or will I have to ask? And how accurate was the website availability? Thanks so much, very excited for our stay!
Not sure how soon you are going, but they will upgrade you if it isnt booked when you get there, but understand that if someone pays for an upgrade an hour before you get there, it's theirs.

If you go regularly, roll the dice. If this is a once in a lifetime trip, pay to upgrade to the room you want.

Regarding excursions and prepay discounts, definitely do it if you know you'll be going. I did this with dives and it was great.

If the "Journey to Island Formation" excursion is still available, this was worth every bit and then some. I'm sure I wrote about it in this thread after my stay in 2018. It is still the best "thing" my wife and I have ever done, and we've done a heck of a lot of things.

Was just there for 5 nights last week. As globalist, we were upgraded from the basic villa to a beach pool villa before check-in, which I guess is the next level up after OWV. I had hoped for a OWV but I guess those were booked up. The pool isn't that big and it gets pretty hot outside so we pretty much never used it. Meanwhile, given where our villa was situated, our beach loungers were cramped into this tiny sandy space, in between some trees and the pool, and above the shore. So the space wasn't really relaxing and you had to walked about stuff to get in and out of the loungers. We basically ended up using the resort's public beach loungers the whole time. But YMMV.

We didn't have a meal plan as breakfast was included and quite abundant. As previous posters have noted, you can get by on breakfast, the happy hour crudites, and dinner. For myself, I found that a main dish and a side was more than enough and I rarely finished my main dish. But obviously, this depends on your appetite. As with most resorts, food is hit or miss. I would say the dishes are very safe and that they are meant to not offend anyone. The burger and fries were good while the Maldivian tuna curry was just some seared pieces of tuna (like you'd find on a salad) with a cup of curry sauce on the side.

We were there last week too (3/7 to 3/14). It was me, my husband, and our 9 year old boy. We’re not Globalists and so were not upgraded. But we did get to try a Beach Villa, Deluxe Beach Pool Villa, and Overwater Pool Villa. On our last day, they allowed free day use of another Beach Villa since our flight out of Male wasn’t until 11 PM.

My son ordered that Truffle Burger several times. My husband enjoyed the lamb chops during our private beach dinner. No dish stood out for me though.

Thanks for sharing! Currently is there any extra charge for child? Did you add a rollaway bed?

I found an international airport GAN which looks closer than MLE. Anyone knows about the transfer info from/to GAN, if this is available?

Yes, our son had a rollaway. We asked for a mattress topper along with it. With each villa move we made, the rollaway came with us. There was no extra charge.

They did a decent job with our stay list- including letting us know several days before about what mini bar items we requested that they couldn’t secure.

I did not get my Open Water Certification here, but did get my Advanced Open Water Certification here. It was amazing. One on one instruction and phenomenal dives. Loved it and would HIGHLY recommend it. My instructor was Ruben. Great guy.

hi,
thanks for sharing your experience with us.
and i saw that there are tax and service charges for all the experiences.

so just wondering are we expecting 10% + 16% = 26% extra on top of the 850 PADI cost?

thanks

Also wanna ask. How about drinking water? Do we need to pay for bottle water in the room or it’s complementary?

Complimentary in room still or sparkling (we would typically write down for housekeeping how many bottles we want, there are large glass carafes). Water in restaurant was also free last summer.

Yes, it's 10% service charge and 16% tax on top of just about everything there. We did the Discover Scuba program (intro program and you can continue the PADI program from there) and it was awesome there. Ali was a great instructor and super patient/calm. Water and reef there are absolutely stunning. They don't advertise the PADI stuff much but you can reach out to them ahead of time for pricing and particulars - they can send you the written test and things to study if you're serious about it.
