I didn't realize first 5000. I can't even book until I get home from work. Don't happen to have one of my MC in my wallet and I don't know the security code on my AA MC. Damnit!!

What did u do for additional 10%, and how did it list on Orbitz?

On each room, I earned Orbucks to pay for subsequent room, plus only got additional $10 giftcards+%cashback by clicking thru refe link for ea room

I didn't do anything but I did notice that I only saw the 10% on one of the hotels I looked at, which happened to be in California. So perhaps it was only for that hotel.

The 10% didn't show until I had selected the specific hotel I wanted. 10% was taken off first, then the $50 applied, then my Orbucks. Really sweet deal. Hope it lasts till I go home and can get my damn MasterCard.

Well that's exactly the idea of WHY they're pulling people in to Masterpass. Masterpass stores all your cards (credit, debit, prepaid)- so knowing your Masterpass password is enough to have like a two-click access to everything!! Visacheckout is likely just as good, no? Any other service we should consider?

As to your "10%off", I'm sorry to put u on the spot- but that's exactly the case for "don't believe everything u read on the net". U came above sounding like u had second promocode kicking in- which of course there is no such thing on orbitz. My rooms were "marked" like 30-50% off, before listing $50 coupon discount. I deem this lo-impact information...My whole point was %cashback link thru to orbitz, resulting in $10 card on top of %cashback just by using refe-link. And u could do that for all rooms

The $50 "Masterpass" Orbitz coupon seems to work at the Disney World hotels. So you could get a good deal at one of their less expensive hotels, like Pop Century, by booking one night at a time.

A rare case of the coupon being useful in the USA.

So it looks there are some hotels marked as VIP hotels which carry the 10% off. The hotel I was looking at was a VIP.

Right, VIP have green banners. Mine were 30-50% off. But also in the summary, Orbitz toplines some pumped-up sticker of say $200, then takes off 50% to near $100, then COUPON kick in -$50.

But again, key is to only be opening orbitz thru %cashback website link, for every room u book; then sign-out of everything; rinse-and-repeat. Utilizing cashback refe-links these originally "$200 rooms" end up effectively $30 or so

Are you sending referral links to yourself and then just creating new accounts to get the big referral bonus to kick in? Ebates for example.

I'm pretty sure that's the reason the mods shut down the thread SinglePapa2 opened on the Orbitz deal. Not cool to post about it or seek referrals.

What TMM1982 proposed is doable. I don't deserve any credit; but I've always emphasized stacking discounts. When u talk $100 rooms, an extra level of discount in addition to $50 code brings it down to $30 or so final cost. So iahphx's fair assessment that the current MASTERPASS deal is hardly worth consideration - all of a sudden turns the most competitive available at the time Cyber Monday is already behind us...And no blackout periods here

I don't see Masterpass as payment option. Is this deal gone?

(Masterpass $50 off $100) filled up

5000-booking charity limit set by mastercard took almost 48h to fill (I think partly because my topic, detailing the stack steps was canned - and I haven't reposted it). Without the stack, i.e. on its surface, it wasn't too attractive. Two groups jumped on it: those who found Xmas rooms, and those who committed thru June (free cancellations as late as 24h were available)

I think this was "a deal" for only about 5% of possible bookings. Weird anomalies like Disney not being excluded, or a good foreign hotel in a weak currency nation participating. That said, once this made it to the various deal websites, I'm sure there were thousands of people who thought they were getting "a deal" (half-off!) when in fact they could have stayed in a better hotel for less money by using other well-worn booking techniques.

Personally, I ran more than 20 searches for future travel both domestic and foreign that I have planned and found absolutely nothing remotely "good." Had it been $100 off $100 again, I could have booked something.
