It's kind of what I've been saying all along on FT. I'm not totally surprised by what's being reported. Hopefully, no further delays as I'm eager to get back to Hong Kong.
Hong Kong could open up to global travel in roughly six months, after officials have successfully navigated the introduction of quarantine-free borders with mainland China and boosted the local vaccination rate, a government adviser said.
As other countries continue opening up, Hong Kong and China remain the only places left in the world
still pursuing a “Covid Zero” strategy that seeks to eliminate local transmission of the virus through strict measures including long quarantines, rigorous contact tracing and targeted testing blitzes.

As much as I'd like this to happen so that I don't lose my HK ROA (even if I don't ever intend to live in HK again), I don't see how unless the mainland opens to the world at the same time, which I thought had to wait until after the CCP congress.

No more airmail between Hong Kong and the U.S., Canada, Mexico and Australia, as well as some smaller places.

This is hardly unique to Hong Kong. Back when Australia was doing Zero-Covid it too had suspensions to Airmail services:
