What's up with the UK/Ireland rates?
I will be in Dublin/Belfast over the third weekend in January. All the Hiltons/Conrads are showing rates of about $300+. Is this the norm?
Maybe it's Priceline time?

I looked in Orbitz and it showed no availability at the Conrad Dublin and E250 at the Hilton. Lots of other places available at prices between $90-200 a night. So, PL or a different chain would be the way to go. I'm sure someone has a suggestion. I recommend you take it to Travelbuzz if you want suggestions outside the Hilton chain.

www.hilton.co.uk is giving me £150-ish for Belfast Hilton. Still a lot of money though.

If you have time (and points) the Conrad Mt. Juliet in Kilkenny (Thomasville), is incredible, and well worth the scenic drive to get there. We had a fabulous meal in the estate dining room and were upgraded to a luxury room in the main estate house. The golf course is superb. We were told that Tiger Woods plays there when he is in Ireland...
Re: the Airport Hilton. I was told when we checked in that Diamonds get "...a choice..." of either a room upgrade OR free breakfast. I pushed the issue and the front desk clerk would not budge. We did get a couple of bottles of water and some nice chocalates as a Diamond welcome gift. Only downer...the power went off this morning for two hours.
Bright side: Ireland is worth it. Get out and see the beautiful countryside. The grounds around the Mt. Juliet Conrad are worth it alone. Don't miss the walled garden! You have to look for it. It is like entering a secret place...

So I just went into the T and Cs and HHonors do not guarantee breakfast-unlike Hyatt. It is so long since I have stayed at a hotel without exec club that I had a misconception that we do get breakky guaranteed.
We diamonds do also not gat guaranteed accres to exec club!!
Please correct me if I am wrong
I think maybe we all have so many elite cards we tend to mix them up . I know I have just in this instance.
So which hotels do give comp breakfast in scotland and ireland.maybe we can have a list?
QFWP sorry about the lower case

I hope you are right. I do have res at the Dublin Hilton in Nov, and it's ~$150 per night. I was shocked to see the $300 plus rates in JAN. I've also checked rates at many other European destinations and with the exception of Brussels and some German properties the rates are ridiculously high. Fares to the continent and that includes budget airlines, are higher that normal for that weekend as well. Is there something going on that particular weekend? Did I just pick the wrong weekend to do a mileage and mattress run?
Anyway, as a last resort I do have friends in Belfast and their house is always open, but I was trying to get a stay or 2 with the Hiltons, but maybe not. For that kind of money I could do many stays at the local Hamptons.

Me and the wife are going to be in Dublin over the Thanksgiving holiday and when I was searching rates last month at the Conrad the only thing they had was Jr. Suites at about 265EUR, no standard rooms and no award bookings (would have been ok as a Diamond I am sure but nothing on the site). Now it seems to be fine for standard rooms at about 215EUR and award bookings are showing up. I am sure they just dont get serious about rates until a couple of months out so just keep an eye on them I think. I like to to spot check every few weeks when I am this far out as you never know what promo or rate will pop up and I am trying to not use the certs I got from a recent promo as they are category 6 certs but may very well break down and use them if the rates dont drop too much more than they are now....which is unlikely based upon what I am found in past searches.
