1. It was not a night at a comparable property
2. This wasn't the first time I'd had to move rooms in this hotel due to dirtiness (you might ask why I continued to stay there - when there's one joint in town, options are limited) 3. I'm fine with what I got, but I feel like I essentially ended up at a wash because I was at a crappier hotel, and wasted an hour dealing with the front desk to secure a new room, etc. |

And one is all you saw? Come on you could have rolled over on it and ended the problem......IMHO |
There is absolutely no way that any hotel can guarantee that you won't have bed bugs, not even the most fastidious 5 star luxury resort.
They could empty out the entire hotel on Monday morning, fumigate it, and on Monday evening when I check in I could unknowingly be carrying bed bugs in my suitcase that I picked up in another good hotel. When you check in on Tuesday afternoon, you will find that you do not have the room to yourself. |

And I've spent more nights in a hotel the past 5 years than in a home, so I realize this is a inherent travel risk. However, as stated above, visual evidence vs. knowing there is a possibility is a big difference. FWIW, I'm staying at the property again the next 3 weeks, so I'm willing to try again. |
If there's only one hotel in town, where did they move you to?

I agree with most of the other posters. It appears that the hotel did you right.
Bed bugs are not indicative of cleanliness. Really, hotels are, for the most part, innocent victims of the next guy that brings them in in their suitcase, etc. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/11915026...bout-bed-bugs/ Bed bugs can, and do, infest the nicest hotels. Actually, I think fancier hotels are MORE prone to get bed bugs due to accommodating more frequent travelers. |

Ew. No. If there's one, there are others (on the floor and other fabrics in the room if not on the bed) and I'm sure the OP didn't want to take those home. I do agree that the manager probably did the most that could be expected. But still - if it was me, I'd feel like I deserved huuuuuge compensation for the skeeze factor. And, please do post the name/location of the hotel. I hope you won't be staying here again (3rd time's the charm?) even if it means a bit of a drive. (And yes..I'm rather reactionary about bugs. No matter whose to blame for them.) |

I think the "roll over on it" was a joke.
Personally, I would have called down for a bottle of ketchup. Mike And ketchup is definitely the wrong condiments for it. Tabasco and lime! :D |
