Very nice stay (7 Photos)

Hilton Tallinn Park

Check In

When entering the hotel, we were greeted by bell captain. He took our luggage and brought us some glögg while we waited for the only CSR to be free. The guests talking to her seemed to have multiple questions about many things, but we sat down sipping our glögg. After a while the bell captain came us telling that we could check in now. Check-in was friendly and relatively fast. She told me we had been upgraded to one-bedroom suite (I booked basic twin with points) and thanked my for my loaylty. After we got the keys, the bell captain asked for the room number, saying that he would take the luggage up while we finished our glögg, if we wanted. Well, why not!

Room

704 is a corned suite with good-sized living room, smallish bedroom and HUGE bathroom. Everything is still almost brand new, so no complaints there. Living room.

Service

Service was really great throughout our stay. Staff is mix of locals and international, all obviously eager to please. And I think also proud of their new hotel.

Dining

We had drinks and some snacks in the EL in the evening (snacks and alcohol between 6 and 8 pm). There were two warm options (spring rolls and chicken skewers), some vegetables, sandwiches etc. For me this was enough for a light meal. Wines were crap TBH. They had also two different kinds of beers, gin, vodka etc.

We also had breakfast in the EL, pretty standard European EL breakfast. Good bread and juice. Service again very nice, and the EL has nice views (when it's not pitch dark outside :-) And I happen to like this kind of interiors.

Pool

Pool area is pretty large, pool itself maybe 18 meters long. Normally this would be enough for me to do laps quite comfortably, but this time around the area was overrun with several families etc. Not complaining, I could still do some swimming and relax in both the sauna and steam bath. (Yes, swimwear was used.) Locker room was big, and the locker lock system easy to use (not always the case in hotels...)

Overall

This is a very nice hotel, and at least for short visits Diamonds seem to get nice upgrades even on award stays. This time around there were people, but hotel was not full. The hotel is not situated right in the center of city (or next to the Old Town), but I think I would walk maybe 15 minutes there (perhaps less). There is a park right in front of the hotel.

Wifi was fast, and rooms in good condition (which is not surprising given the age of the hotel). Good service, when checking out the bell boy carried our bags to the taxi.

There is a 24-hour casino in the hotel. Maybe next time!

Very nice stay

Would you like to write a review on the Hilton Tallinn Park?

No, thank you.

We stayed here a couple of weeks ago although we had room 704!

Pietro, the bell captain, was very chatty and as the reception was busy we were taken straight to the lounge. Not sure how they knew who we were and that we were Diamond.

I agree with the review from SPBanker that this is a very pleasant Hilton. The only negative we came across was dinner in The Able Butcher. The food was appalling bad and the service so slow we almost walked out. Plenty of restaurants nearby and most of the cheaper and with a more typical menu.

We were offered breakfast in the Lounge or in the restaurant. We choose the lounge and it was fine for us as we are not big breakfast eaters.

The Old City is an easy 10-15 minute walk from the Hilton and it's a great place to wander around. The Christmas Market isn't very good but I believe it's only been going a few years so will hopefully improve.

As you walk towards the Old City there is a large department store and supermarket. The supermarket is definitely worth a visit and we will make sure on our next trip, in early 2017, that we take a bag to check in on the way back full of Estonian goodies.

Good hotel

I had booked a standard room but was upgraded to standard suite as diamond member (I think I got the same room as SPBanker).

Postivies were the friendly staff, good service and freshness of the hotel.

My main negative was that public areas were heavily perfumed, also I couldn't find any instructions for the sound system in the room (specifically how to connect to BT).

Is it worth booking anything beyond a standard king room?
Coming in at €108 for a king, €116 for a deluxe room with a view, €156 for something more executive etc.

Planning on arriving between in a couple of weeks at 2-3pm and leaving by maybe 5am next day so will miss breakfast and not sure how light or dark it is to actually take advantage of any views.
Depends on how cold it is outside as to whether I go for a wander at night or stay in

I was in TLL two weeks ago and it was bitterly cold - really not a place to wander around with winter temperatures (admittedly only -7C but it felt much colder).

EUR 108/nt is a bargin at this property. No corp. rates seem to work and the rates are relatively high, especially in spring/summer.

We were there a few weeks ago and while it was cold we spent a couple of hours wandering around the Old City.

The property treats Diamonds well and we have always been upgraded from a basic room to a one room suite.

We did try eating at the Able and Butcher restaurant in the hotel and it was honestly dreadful both in terms of the food and service. My advice would be to eat at one of the many restaurants within a 10-15 minute walk.

Executive Lounge is pretty good and very friendly staff.

Seems to have increased in price by €6 or so since this morning. Still around £98 for a King room so not too bad.
Probably half as much elsewhere in the city but I want to see if my Diamond status does anything upgrade or amenity wise.

This is obviously still a new hotel and the staff seemed to be genuinely interested in making my stay a good one. I had a two night stay after Christmas and was quite well looked after, including being upgraded to a suite.

I have decided not to contribute my usual detailed reviews of stays for a few months. In the meantime you can find a detailed review on TripAdvisor.

Thumbs down

NOTE! to all of the Gold and Diamond members here.
It seems Hilton Tallinn Park does not offer any more a complimentary full breakfast in the Able Butcher restaurant but only the more limited selection in the lounge. To have the breakfast on the 2nd floor one must pay the full fee for the breakfast or book with a rate including the breakfast.

<the long story>
I was very surprised by this last weekend as I have stayed there a few times before and usually had the breakfast at the restaurant and my friend with a Gold status didn't have any issues having the breakfast at the restaurant just one week ago. Also in check-in at the Executive Lounge I got the usual "You can have the breakfast in the lounge or at the restaurant downstairs" and she even specially recommended for us the breakfast downstairs for having a wider selection.

But in the morning while entering the Able Butcher the host looked at her paper and said that I didn't have breakfast included in my room. I asked her to verify this with the manager standing there as it used to be a standard benefit with the Diamond status at this hotel and has even been stated to me at the check in, and then we were guided to our table.
A moment later as we were starting our breakfast the manager approached me and stated in a very strict manner that we would have to pay the full price of the breakfast and that this has been the policy there since November 2016 like in other Hiltons around the world. As I was very puzzled about the situation and my room guest next to me almost shocked he then insisted that I would follow him to the reception downstairs to clear up the situation. After I had walked there with him and explained the whole story, the reception agreed to waive the breakfast fee for this stay only and we were able to continue our breakfast.

Later on I discussed this with another employee in the Executive Lounge who verified that the complimentary breakfast is now in the lounge only and apologised that the new policy which she said was implemented one month ago hadn't reached all employees.

Seems Hilton Tallinn Park has had some changes in their management and one of them is the manager at the Able Butcher who had worked in Hiltons in Portugal and later at Conrad Dubai and Hilton Abu Dhabi. Probably the new managers are going through the financial numbers and implementing policies that are more in line with the Hiltons for example in the US.
Though I have felt the upgrades have been generous, the property is one of the best around the area and that the service has been great. I really hope they won't go too far with the bean counting and take away the reasons why I have kept on going back time and time again.

I stayed there on Saturday night and I also got upgraded to a one bedroomed suite on the 9th floor.
Lovely room with 2 large screen TVs, a Nespresso coffee machine, Bose Soundlink etc.
Did like the rainfall shower.

Had a plate on the table in the living room when I arrived with dark bread, cheese, chutney stuff and a mini bottle of local liqueur as a welcome gift.
Two bottles of water delivered a little later.

Left early so missed breakfast but did visit the lounge in the evening. Quite a few people in there and had a couple of beers.
Food wise, saw someone with some meat on skewers but other than that, had already eaten some food bought in the supermarket in the Viru shopping centre basement so didn't pay much attention.

Very friendly staff and a lovely hotel overall.
Diamond recognition at the check-in desk (used downstairs rather than the 11th floor lounge as it was easier at the time and I forgot about it anyway).

€6.40 for a taxi from the airport and much the same back.

Only slight issue I had was I pressed one of the light switches in the bedroom and it turned off all the lights in the living room. Couldn't figure out why they wouldn't come back on using any light switch so had to get someone from downstairs to show me.
Also some woman came in in the evening mentioning something about evening service? Was lying on the settee watching the worst TV channels ever and she knocked on the door so I had to jump up and grab some more clothes before she came in.

Thanks xenole for your update, glad to hear you had a memorable stay.

Did you get offered at check-in a choice of where you could take breakfast incl. in their restaurant as a Diamond?

Thanks for letting us know here on FT.

Cheers & Safe Travels.

Can't remember if they gave a breakfast location option.
Knew I wasn't going to be there for it anyway, so didn't pay attention to that bit
Will probably be there again later in the year with a longer stay so I'll see then but I'm not too fussed where I eat.

Here again at Hilton Tallinn Park.
This time I was confirmed already when checking in at the lounge that the complimentary breakfast is now only at the lounge. No welcome amenity either but I believe that they have just forgotten it.
A great upgrade again to King Deluxe one bedroom suite.

Update: After asking about the welcome amenity they delivered a better than usual selection of cheese etc. to my room with the normal Vana Tallinn.
