No points for points and money stay?

No points for points and money stay?
Spent a long weekend dealing with family issues, required overnight stays, jumped around 3 different properties to maximize stays for Diamond qual.
To my pleasant surprise, it was possible to make 3 different points and money stays, at decent properties, very attractive rates. The first night stay has posted to my account, only showing 1k points for myway bonus - nothing for the cash portion of the stay. Nothing was charged to the room, but I still expected the cash portion to earn points.
Paragraph 13 of http://hhonors3.hilton.com/en/terms/...#hotel_rewards seems a bit contradictory, one interpretation is that points should be awarded for the cash component.
Anyone with more experience than I?

Because they have said they are requiring paid stays for lifetime diamond -- award stays do not count. Others have also wondered why (see the lifetime threads) but HH hasn't been forthcoming with their reasons. If you want to know why you will have to ask them.
