Indeed, I am looking for a stay at the end of the month. How are HHonors diamond treated? Upgrade? free breakfast buffet? Free wifi and hence no resort fee?

If the poster was told the correct info, then we will be treated even worse there than at the Trop, which I didn't think was possible. Come on, a resort fee with NO bottled water??????

I'll be sure to post back in a little less than 2 weeks when I'm there, but I don't have high hopes on the HHonors side... it weren't on the company dime AND the $50 AMEX from my BRG claim, I would switch back to one of the HGVCs. The glitz of the advertizing and being a new property grabbed me at first, but that is fading even before I get there.

Indeed, I did call after making the post since I needed to decide where to stay and since I did not receive a fast reply to my post from a HHDiamond member having already stayed at the SLS. Sorry for the confusion if any.

What a let down! I'm glad I made a backup reservation at the HGVC on Karen for the same dates I did at SLS in November. I know which hotel I'll be cancelling a reservation at and which one I'll be staying with.

The Be Legendary rate dropped around $12/night since I booked (with a BRG claim)... so it looks like to get my $50 AMEX I'll have to pay $25 more than the current rate... at least it's on the company dime. Looks like the mediocre TA reviews are already catching up to SLS barely a month after opening...

Just wrapped up SLS stay as HHonors Diamond

I usually stay at Encore when on the Strip, but opted to give the SLS a try even though reviews here and TA have been awful.

But I'm glad I did --I enjoyed myself and thought the property was definitely a positive addition to the HHonors family.

For being a Diamond, I was offered a room upgrade, 2 bottles of water, and breakfast daily in their lobby breakfast place, Perq.

The room was very small ...like smaller-than-NYC-hotel-small... but the bed was very comfortable, the TV was huge, the internet was fast, the air conditioning worked well, I had a nice view, and the bathroom was a good size... with a -huge- shower.

This is definitely no suite at the Encore, but it is a cool boutique with edgy design and decor. If you're going to Vegas and planning to spend most of your time in you room, you're doing it wrong. But if you need a comfortable place to crash and a bathroom roomy enough to shower with 4-5 new found Vegas friends and still have elbow room, this is the place for you.

Service was friendly throughout --big smiles at the front door, warm welcomes at the desk, and fresh hello's/farewell's from assorted staff throughout.

The resort was sparkling clean and I liked the layout and design.

The casino was fun as was the crowd/vibe there and at the pool.

I ate at their Japanese eatery and found the service and food there to be exceptional. I'd definitely put it in my top 10 restaurants in a Hilton property, and that's saying something since I've been to most of their high end properties around the world.

Even better, we get a sparkling new resort that we can earn (and redeem) HHonors credit for.

I would never stay here with a family. And I would never share a room with more than 1 person here. And like most places in Vegas, I probably wouldn't want to stay more than 4 consecutive nights here.

Yeah, its far from everything, but so is everything in Vegas. I know someone who wrapped up a stay at Paris and found it easier to cab it to the Bellagio than to walk....and that's right across the street from each other. So while the SLS is at the far end of the strip, if you're going out anyway, you'll probably need to taxi to wherever regardless of where you stay.

The one plus is the monorail is a short walk to the rooms ...which makes access to the Convention Center super-easy. So much so that I decided to book a return to the SLS for CES. It'll be a treat to stay someplace and not worry about wacky CES shuttle service & timing.

Thanks for the update/review. Now we have some specifics!

Ah, the optical illusion of size when you place a 22" TV in a 155 sq. ft. room!

Weatherboy thanks for the review. ^ There are three towers, I believe. Some have larger rooms. I have not stayed, but visited to "play" at the SLS LAS. I found the casino very nice. I used to stay at the old Sahara back in the 1980's.

If you have stayed at the (new ) Tropicana, can you compare? I've stayed at the Trop and never again for me.

Again, thanks for the review! ^

The TV was ridiculously large....and I kept bumping into it whenever I walked by the bed on "that" side of the room.

In any event, the TV is 55".

I stayed in the Lux Tower, so I can't comment on the other towers with even smaller rooms. They should have made every 2 rooms into 1 room and double their rates. Then it'd be like every other hotel there, size and price wise.

But no, I've never stayed at Tropicana before. I've walked through the casino though and thought the place was very sketchy. At least SLS felt/looked upscale.

Thanks for the great review weatherboy. Was the breakfast hot or cold?

Did you try to get a late checkout and if you did was the request granted?
