If trop kept the same diamond benefits they did when they first became a DT, they would continue to get my stays in Vegas.

They have always had a resort fee but when they first became a DT it was waived for diamonds. They stopped that policy after a few months.

For the first year or so diamonds were given a full buffet in the beach café and gold's were given a decent (if you like carbs) continental breakfast of a yogurt parfait and a few pastries with the option to upgrade to buffet for a surcharge. Diamonds were also allowed to use the VIP line at breakfast. First they stopped allowing diamond's to use the casino VIP line at breakfast, then they eliminated the full breakfast buffet for diamond's and give the same options gold received and then they moved it down to the food court area.

When you factor in the resort fee, I am better off staying at the Elayra or another HGVC or a non-Hilton property in Vegas. Plenty of places for breakfast in Vegas or I can just get something healthy and use the kitchen if it's an HGVC property.

I would love it if this property gave diamonds the buffet for breakfast. The buffet looks awesome on their facebook page. Their coffee house looks amazing as well and I would be fine with the breakfast benefit being there as well.

I'm really hoping they have a lounge.
Don't hold your breathe. Casinos lose money on their hotels, have little incentive to roll out the red carpet for Hhonors elites who do not leave money in their gaming areas. It did not take the Trop long to figure out that most of us spend little if any time in the casino, no reason to offer bennies, expect the came from SLS.

I'm also not expecting much. Seeing how high the room rates are right now and seeing it's off the strip, I hope they treat us a little better than Tropicana.

I thought the old LV Hilton treated diamonds great for as cheap as their room rates were. Even though it was a dump, was easy to tolerate with the great buffet and cheap room rates. But in turn, I also gambled there a lot. If I wasn't staying there I wouldn't have never gambled there, and I wouldn't have stayed there if it wasn't for the benefits, so that helped them out.

I'm hoping the SLS lowers their room rates and I'll stay there instead of the HGVC. I never rent a car and use the monorail and there is easy monorail access and very convenient to get to Fremont Street/downtown.

SLS Las Vegas will arrive a week earlier than expected, as the resort announced an August 23 opening date today. The north Strip property, located on the site of the former Sahara Hotel & Casino, was initially slated for a Labor Day Weekend debut.

Its opening will also bring an exciting lineup of restaurants and nightlife venues to the Sahara Avenue corner, including Bazaar Meat by José Andrés, Japanese joint Katsuya, Umami Burger, nightclub/pool Life and intimate LA music-venue import the Sayers Club.

“It’s such an honor to be part of a dedicated team working around the clock to help bring our vision to life,” said SLS Las Vegas President and COO Rob Oseland via release. “Today we’re turning on our lights and the countdown officially begins as we prepare to welcome guests at SLS Las Vegas one week ahead of schedule.”

Will it be part of the Hilton Family of hotels for the opening?

So SLS isn't showing up in the Hilton.com booking engine yet. Are reservations for ~September expected to get HHonors points and benefits. I considered the Tropicana but instead split my 2 nights between HGVC Convention Center and HGVC Strip. That said, there is a decent "Legendary" rate available through the SLS website, but I'm leary of booking it that way and not getting HHonors points/benefits. Any insight available?

I'm wondering the same thing since I have a stay in Vegas Labor day weekend for four nights. Also wondering what the breakfast benefits will be for diamonds, if suite upgrades will be available and if late checkouts will be given and if diamonds will have access to the VIP casino lounge?

Right now I have a great rate at the HGVC at the convention center on Karen rate and they will always upgrade a diamond if suites are available and no issues with a 2 p.m. check out. I don't want to give that up if I have to pay a lot higher rate at SLS and won't get points or will get treated like I do at the Trop

The fact that stays at Tropicana booked directly with the hotel aren't HHonors eligible has me leery to book directly with SLS without a somewhat definitive answer beforehand.

James, since you are also Hyatt Plat, you are also status matched to MLife Gold. Have you tried it in Vegas? With Chase LH&R (If you have a Chase card) and MLife Gold, you pretty much gets free breakfast, room upgrade, and resort credit. The only thing missing is free internet. But the choices are so much better and free buffet line pass! And you get stay credit and points for Hyatt.

Thanks for the heads up! I did status match to Mlife gold but didn't know it waived the resort fee or gave you free breakfast. What's the Chase LH&R card (I have the chase Hyatt and chase freedom card). I can live with paying for internet or using my phone or paying for 3G on my ipad if it's a good rate. I like the HGVC on Karen since I don't rent a car in vegas and it's beside the LVH monorail and they always upgrade me to a 1-br suite if available and I really like the pool (it's open until 10).

I have used the Mlife gold for the buffet line pass and also have saved money on tickets when I saw Ray Ramano earlier this year by being gold.

Oh no, Mlife gold doesn't get free breakfast or waive resort fee, but if you reserve the room using Chase's Luxury Hotel & Resort Collection site, you get free breakfast, room upgrade, and resort credit. I think Chase Freedom gives you access to it:

https://chaselhrpurchase.orxenterprise.com/

I checked the price for the hotels and it seems to be the same as you could get at the hotel sites but it gives free breakfast, upgrade, and resort credit.

Separate Loyalty Program??

Another data point: The SLS Las Vegas had a Q&A session yesterday on their Facebook page. Interesting how this question was answered:

Tim Thom What membership loyalty program will SLS be using? Will it be affiliated to any other current programs? Will SLS be offering any fashion boutiques for shopping?

SLS Las Vegas Hotel & Casino We've developed a proprietary loyalty program built with SBE which will expand the loyalty program beyond Las Vegas and into Los Angeles, Miami and New York and beyond.

We're partnered with Fred Segal and we'll have seven Fred Segal stores featuring men, women, casual, shoes and lifestyle products.

Thanks! My freedom card doesn't work. I did a websearch and it's showing the Hyatt card is eligible so I will have to try that card when I get home (the site I found on the search engine said any chase signature card and the freedom isn't a signature card).

Ceasar's is showing and I have Platinum status at Harrah's thanks to their credit card. Now that I think about it, I really want the full kitchen and washer/dryer on my labor day trip since I will be there four days, but will definitely use this site for my October stay. I like to use the SPA at ceasars but they really jacked up the price of a day pass so I might just stay there if the rate is right and MGM can't be beat for the closeness to the airport.

SLS Las Vegas (former Sahara) opens Sat. Aug 23. It looks like a lot of nightlife. From SEVEN magazine (LAS):

8/23 (SAT) Erick Morillo
8/28 (THU) REBECCA & FIONA
8/28 (THU) TOVE LO
8/29 (FRI) DJ FIVE
8/29 (FRI) LAIDBACK LUKE
8/30 (SAT) NICO VINZ
8/30 (SAT) DIRTY SOUTH
8/31 (SUN) DEEP DISH W/PETE TONG

This is at different nightclubs inside the hotel/casino. I have never heard of any of these groups, but it's not the 70's or 80's anymore. So, I admit I'm a little out of touch.

I'm looking forward to this place joining Hilton. I have maintained status with Marriott, but have been moving more business towards Hilton the last two years.

Good luck to the SLS Las Vegas! That end of the strip needs this. It also has a monorail stop.

Not to mention the history of relationships between casino hotels and loyalty programs is not good. Just look at Cosmo-Marriott. And while mLife-Hyatt has some tangible benefits, they're not exactly great either, and this is with much older properties than Cosmo/SLS. Go in with low expectations - especially at such a new property - or you will be disappointed.

There are just two clubs - Life (nightclub/dayclub) and Foxtail (more lounge-ish) so it is nothing crazy. On the listings you have two DJs per date, the first is at Foxtail and the second is at Life. These are mostly EDM DJs with some hip-hop at Foxtail.
