protocol to escalate request?

hi gang,

i recently realised that because the executive lounge has free 802.11b, one can probably access the internet via that from the rooms on that floor. alas, the front desk was unable to accomodate me due to the extended length of my stay.

what would be a good way to go about asking for a room on the executive floor? how high should i escalate my request?

fwiw, i'm diamond but am paying a rather cheap corp rate. seems ironical that a loyal customer like me would have a lower chance of getting what he wants. sigh.

edit to add: i'm in the osaka hilton.

I don't have experience with this particular property, but more often than not a polite request addressed to the General Manager does wonders, especially coming from a Diamond member.

Offering to switch rooms during the middle of your stay can also help.

I'm always amazed when hotels tell me they can't upgrade me due the the length of my stay, particularly places like Paris LV where there are thousands of rooms. Asking them to check again usually does the trick.

Yeah I feel your pain. Most HH properities consider exec lounge access to be an "upgrade", thus they have considered they have forfilled their obligation (and I agree they minimumly have). This has been quoted to me too many times. Also I seem to be getting less assignments on the exec level (I am a Diamond) as in the past when I dont purchase the pricier exec level rooms.

Occasionally I have asked to speak to the hotels HH manager and have been pleasently surprised about 50-60% of the time. FWIW in my experience Wi-Fi extends only about 2-3 rooms max. Good luck.

thanks for the suggestions everyone.

between the general mgr and the HH manager, which would be a better person to approach? the lower rungs (like the asst front desk mgr) have been giving me the "here is our SOP" speaches ...

xyzzy, aint it so -- i'm here for a while, and u cant do _what_ for me?

misternice, thanks for pointing out the range of wifi, i had walked the length of the hallway and was able to get a signal but hadnt considered that it probably would do well through concrete walls. perhaps this request might be futile afterall.

or perhaps i might help future FT'ers staying here by writing a nice letter asking them to put in wifi.
