Last saturday, I dined at Freisinger Hof. It was my first time and it was brilliant. Very good service, perfect food and therefor not overpriced (meaning not cheap but well worth the money)

I recommend to reserve a table in advance.

A perennial favorite of ours is Zum Alten Markt (www.zumaltenmarkt.de). It's a small restaurant just off the Viktualienmarkt. Great food annd always wonderful friendly service.

my favorite bar is the ver-o-peso near the gasteig. it is very tiny and you will get the best caipirinha in munich ... :-) they also offer brazilian food.
another great bar is pusser's bar in the heart of munich - you have to try their "pain killer" :-)

Not sure what the current weather is like but when I was in Munich the weekend before, both Saturday and Sunday it was definitely warm enough to have lunch in a beergarden. I spent lots of time sitting outside in cafs having coffee.

Do you prefer the 1st floor or 2nd floor at Spatenhaus?

Hi,

I will be in MUC for a few days, next week. Having been there a few years ago, anything special going on next week that 2 brothers (mid 20s) and father would enjoy doing/seeing? I think there is a Bayern Munich game but obviously thats on Sunday and I will already be out of there by then.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Actually, the Bayern Mnchen game is on Saturday, Dec. 12. However, it's an away game. TSV 1860, in the 2nd Bundesliga, does have a game on Saturday Dec. 12 at 1pm in the Allianz Arena.

In terms of "typical male" activities, the BMW museum might be of interest.

Yep, already plan on seeing that museum. I have heard pretty good things. Any other sights/things to do that come to mind?

Actually there is a Bayern Munich game next week on Tuesday, but it will be in Turin (last Championsleague pre-round game), so this seems to be a little far away for you.
There are many Christmas-Markets going on at this time of the year.
My favorite is located at the "Chinesischer Turm", within the English Garden.

Emjoy your trip.

My wife and I may be spending New Year's Eve in MUC. I see that the Ratskeller has a Silvester program. Are there any other options that you can recommend? Thanks in advance.

I'll be in MUC end of Dec. Looking forward to it! This thread has been a help.

Years ago when I last visited, there was a cafe in Marienplatz that was upstairs, directly across from the glockenspiel. Does anyone know if this place still exists? I wouldn't mind trying to make a reservation for oh, 10h50 if I can.
