Indeed! Nobody knows. This uncertainly is surely not nice but no one can really predict something at the moment. From a complete lockdown to a (nearly) normal Situation everything seems possible.

EU is set to shortly announce that travel restrictions into the bloc will be extended to 15 June.

Here ist now the official press release:

Coronavirus: Commission invites Member States to extend restriction on non-essential travel to the EU until 15 June

The final decision lies with the individual member states but it seems they all follow.

They will for sure. It seems we have to live with this situation for a while

Please nobody yell at me LondonElite.

I read somewhere Ireland isn’t shutting down. What if an American passport holder were to arrive in Ireland, and then fly onto Germany.

Also if I arrived at the German border and was stopped would saying helping family allow me entrance?

I’m not yelling. 😷.

In both cases, you would need to cross the German border meaning a conversation with the BP. They would see that you have neither German citizenship nor residence and send you packing. You’d probably not get that far because you almost certainly wouldn’t be allowed to board the flight. And the ‘helping a relative would need to be rigorously documented.’

Ireland is not part of Schengen. So try to find out what this means even in a non-Covid travel restriction situation. Yes, even under normal circumstances there are border controls between Germany (part of Schengen) and Ireland (not part of Schengen). So entering Germany from Ireland does not work!

I'm not yelling either, but at this point, this is indeed getting a little ridiculous.

You aren't getting into Germany for quite awhile, full stop.

Regards

Nobody can tell you when you will be allowed to enter Germany as nobody can tell me when I will be able to travel to certain countries. That's life today.
If I read about the claim you must help family I must laugh snd cry at once. You can imagine not many try to enter Germany without proper reason but do you really think you enter through Ireland, show your passport (perhaps not even with regular visits to Germany before) and after you tell them you need to help family in Germany (on German we call this "Räuberpistole") without any documentation to testify the officer says: Welcome to Germany, we waited for you? If you tell me in advance which time you will try to enter Germany at which airport I will try to be there with a chair, a drink and some potato chips.

I understand. I’m trying to find a way somehow to get in. I am not trying to annoy anyone, I just don’t want to leave any rock unturned. I’m just trying to feed my family and this is really important to my economic well being.

If anyone comes up with more news, articles, advice on how I could possibly enter please post. Thanks for all your feedback.

There is discussion about loosening some land borders from 15 May, while others to stay closed until 15 June. A quarantine applies to travelers from certain countries. All a bit unclear at the moment.

A US man's plot to visit his girlfriend in Germany was foiled by airport employees in Frankfurt, the airport police said on Tuesday.

Germany maintains an air traffic connection with the US but most US nationals are not allowed to enter the country under current travel restrictions.

The German government makes exceptions for German residents or family members of German nationals.

The 20-year-old flew into Frankfurt Airport on Sunday and then tried to disguise himself as a janitor in order get past the airport security checkpoint.

The man put on a reflective vest and grabbed two black trash bags and headed towards the checkpoint, pretending he was there to empty the trash cans
LOL! Imagine what would have been done to him by the CBP if he had tried that as a German national in a FIS

I guess you would stay in another kind of "hotel" and it was your last visit for a while as your name is on a "special list" for a while......
