22 hour layover in MUC
Lufthansa has a 22 hour layover on our flight LAX - MUC - BOM . Flight reached MUC at 1.35 PM and BOM flight is at 11:30 AM the next day.
we are 2 adults and 1 child(12 yr old)
1) Assuming we get out much at 3 pm , would that evening (month of June) be enough to see the main attractions in Munich?
2) Does Lufthansa provide overnight accommodation?
3) I read on airport website that we can keep our luggage at airport when we go out for touring the city so that shouldn't be a problem.
4) What attractions would you recommend in MUC ? Can we do something the next day morning (early) ?

What are your interests? Is the child a boy or a girl?
The best sight for kids (boys in particular) in Munich is the "Deutsches Museum", either the main museum, or the Verkehrszentum: http://www.deutsches-museum.de/index.php?id=1&L=1
The problem is that both the main museum and the Verkehrszentrum (cars, trains etc) close at 5PM. However: Munich is a nice city just for strolling, and an evening meal in a beer hall (preferably the Hofbruhaus) will also be appreciated by kids. June is a fine month for strolling. Walk around downtown, and you will have a fine evening.
I would not plan on anything other than a good breakfast at the hotel before heading out to the airport again next morning.

Also I never asked but where should I stay the night ? Near main city , I assume. Any recommendations? Like US , do some hotels have free pickup from airport?

Only the hotels near the airport have shuttles. If you want to stay in the city you will have to take S1 or S8 from the airport.

Many Munich hotels are around the central station (Hauptbahnhof). While not the best area of town, it is perfectly safe, and only about ten minutes walk from the central square (Marienplatz). If you choose to stay in this area, you should consider taking the airport bus, especially if carrying luggage. It is somewhat slower, but you get to see more, and the terminal is just across from a row of hotels.

There's an interesting BMW museum. Don't miss the main square, where the Hofbrauhaus is located.
Airport hotels charge for their airport shuttles, IIRC 6 Euro per person.
There's a nice (but not particularly cheap) hotel right in the airport, the Kempinski. It has an indoor pool, restaurant, etc. There's also a brewery and biergarten/restaurant/bar right at the airport, in a courtyard with a bunch of shops, including relatively big grocery store and drug store. In fact, for someone who has already seen Munich, staying at the airport wouldn't be bad at all.

Depending on your interests, timing, and budget, I would certainly get out of the airport and visit Munich and stay overnight in town. We can help you with more reasonable accommodation if you like.

1. Yes, sunset ist after 9pm in June, so more than enough time. But keep in mind that you will be coming off a redeye flight including quite some jetlag.
4. Get a place to stay close to the city centre; walk around the old town; visit the Englischer Garten and watch the surfers at the Eisbach; get some delicious ice cream at Ballabeni; have dinner in a nice Biergarten under chestnut trees.
Get a good night's rest and a nice relaxed breakfast before heading back to the airport.

With such a short amount of time in town, and considering you're arriving somewhat late in the day, I'd suggest a bike tour. I recommend Mike's, who pick up at the Marienplatz at 4:30pm, and take you on a 4 hour tour that includes a stop for dinner and beer in the English Garden. As ritesa mentioned, the sun sets late in June, so you may as well enjoy the extended daylight and cover some ground.

If I may recommend a place to stay, we just stayed at the Park Inn by Radisson - Munich East. It is a 2 minute walk from the Johanneskirchen stop on the S8. It was a very nice hotel with a restaurant/bar and perfect for families. It is extremely easy to get to Marienplatz and other attractions from that hotel, and it would be quick to get back to the airport, as it's only a few stops down the line.

Thanks everyone for all the very informative replies. Unfortunately I ended up buying LAX - ZRH - BOM - FRA - LAX tickets for family as I got it cheaper and timings were just right.
I do have a 19 hour layover in ZRH on way to BOM so I guess I will post similar questions in the other forums.
Thanks again everyone.
