Just a couple of minor corrections, the Hofbrauhaus is on the Platzl, not really the main square (which if anything is Marienplatz, where the old town hall is), but near enough. I would argue that there are nicer beer halls than that.

There's a nice (but not particularly cheap) hotel right in the airport, the Kempinski. It has an indoor pool, restaurant, etc. There's also a brewery and biergarten/restaurant/bar right at the airport, in a courtyard with a bunch of shops, including relatively big grocery store and drug store. In fact, for someone who has already seen Munich, staying at the airport wouldn't be bad at all.
The Kempinski management contract ended last year, and since January the hotel has been a Hilton. I have not stayed there since the reflag, but don't believe the rooms have changed. Kempinski didn't feel it was a right fit for the portfolio.

Depending on your interests, timing, and budget, I would certainly get out of the airport and visit Munich and stay overnight in town. We can help you with more reasonable accommodation if you like.
