Indeed, that was my intended suggestion.

I just experienced my first ever flight in Stretch Seat and I'm very happy about it. It was DEN-LGA, thus about 4 hours on the plane (3h05' flying time). I'm 6'7" and this was really wonderful for me and I will always go for it, from now on. In fact I find it a considerable advantage compared to other airlines (perhaps with the exception of JetBlue, they have greater legspace even in the back and a similar offer).

Now, I booked it through a Classic Plus ticket, because I needed fully flexible conditions and the surcharge was less than the potential 25 USD same day change fee on Classic. I also enjoyed the complementary wine - but you can also buy it for 5 USD, thus that's not really the winning argument for it.

Thus I will go for Stretch Seating in any case, through a Classic Plus ticket if I need the full flexibility and surcharge against classic is less than 25 USD.

Your thoughts:

On an E190

4A (stretch)

Or 12 B or 12 C (exit row aisle)

TIA.

Is that good legroom? You won't get fitted it in. You shouldn't have any problem at all.

Without hesitation...4A.

Many of the E190s have 1x2 in the Stretch section, and if you have one of those aircraft you'll have a wide single seat to yourself. Legroom is about as good as exit row, though not spectacular. If you happen to have one of the E190 with 2x2 through the entire cabin, your Stretch seat will have much more leg room than exit row. The Stretch section on those aircraft have very abundent legroom.

4A is my favorite seat on the E190.

Whatever happened to the 2010 plan to convert all the E190s to 2x2? I was thinking about it on my last flight.

Total seats was 97, adding four more would have exceeded 99. Consequently, adding another FA. I think that was the end of that plan. Looks like some of the 1x2 aircraft will be around for the foreseeable future.

I'm sure they decided they needed those planes in service because of the removal of the E70s so they delayed the conversions. Probably the same story for wifi unfortunately.

The 2x2 birds have 25 rows for 100 actual seats, but only 99 are sold.

I was wondering the same thing about the E190 seating as of late. In the past week I was on three E190's in Frontier paint, and all of them had the 1x2 Stretch section:

N167HQ Mo & Jo (Kit fox pups)
N174HQ Buddy (badger)
N175HQ Lucy (goose)

I was surprised none of those planes were converted to 2x2, and wonder if they are having second thoughts on that direction. Both configurations have 99 seats to sell.

As for the wifi, from what I've heard (from multiple sources) it is them getting jerked around by the vendor. I don't know if it's the same issue or vendor, but the snail's pace by which the Southwest fleet is getting wifi makes me wonder why it's so difficut. I understand (though think it is detestable) that Frontier would get worse service because they are a small customer. But WN is obviously a massive customer yet the installation pace appears to be painfully slow. Southewst does have it turned on for the aircraft on which it is installed, but it seems very spotty more than nine months after rollout.

Again, I'm not sure if it is the same vendor or not, but if nobody offers reliable installation timelines there's no other vendor to switch to.

Just curious about 4A, and why it's your favorite. Is it better than 2A or 3A? I can understand 1A might not be as desirable with the bulkhead/no underseat storage/etc.

Was wondering why 4A as well. 3A isn't a bulkhead...

As far as WiFi goes, Gogo is Frontier's provider for that. Maybe Gogo is trying to finish up all of Delta's fleet before doing anything with F9...

Come to think of it, I can't remember if I've even been on a 2x2 E90. The 1x2 planes still have the blue interiors though so I'm still guessing it is a fleet availability issue, and one of those things that isn't really causing anyone any frustration so it is probably low on the totem pole of things to fix.

I believe WN is using Row44 and Frontier went with Gogo. Its frustrating that they can't get their act together and from what I understand, it isn't a whole lot of equipment to install. It is just a glorified cellular radio connected to some Wifi hotspots. You would think the vendor would be in a rush to get these installed to increase their opportunity to make money.

If sitting in 4A, you could end up spending the flight looking at the long, stretched-out legs of the guy sitting in 5C, who is taking full advantage of the extra legroom, due to no seat 4C.

Frontier tweeted a few weeks ago that they are in the "testing" phase of the process.

I am flying IND to CUn and return in stretch seating. I bought the cheapest fare I could find over the phone and paid $40 per person each way for the seats.

What perks besides pitch do I get?

i saw some say early boarding and early food choice. Any break in security lines or airport check-in in Indianapolis or Cancun?
