I was wondering the same thing about the E190 seating as of late. In the past week I was on three E190's in Frontier paint, and all of them had the 1x2 Stretch section:
N167HQ Mo & Jo (Kit fox pups)
N174HQ Buddy (badger)
N175HQ Lucy (goose)
I was surprised none of those planes were converted to 2x2, and wonder if they are having second thoughts on that direction. Both configurations have 99 seats to sell.
As for the wifi, from what I've heard (from multiple sources) it is them getting jerked around by the vendor. I don't know if it's the same issue or vendor, but the snail's pace by which the Southwest fleet is getting wifi makes me wonder why it's so difficut. I understand (though think it is detestable) that Frontier would get worse service because they are a small customer. But WN is obviously a massive customer yet the installation pace appears to be painfully slow. Southewst does have it turned on for the aircraft on which it is installed, but it seems very spotty more than nine months after rollout.
Again, I'm not sure if it is the same vendor or not, but if nobody offers reliable installation timelines there's no other vendor to switch to.
