I wrote a very nice email to F9 and suggested they block the emergency exit row of for Accent and Summit members until 20 minutes before departure. This is exactly what they do for the bulkhead seats and handicapped travelers so I know its possible. Two emails went unanswered and a third received a canned response about the emergency exit rows having extra legroom for our safety not our comfort. A completely ignorant view, IMHO, given the fact most frequent travlers would have more of an idea what to do in case of an emergncy than Joe and Mary I'm-on-my-once-a-year-vacation-and-have-nothing-better-to-do-than-get-to-the-airport-3-hours-ahead-of-time Traveler. After that I switched to UA, spend most of my time in F or C (between hubs) and have excellent service. If I didn't have status and Y then I would probably fly F9 but there is a HUGE difference between the way you are treated in F or C on UA and the solid service f) provides everybody. I just don't see what loyalty to F9 gets you, please explain.
Sure we're democratic...we try and deliver a good product to all of our customers, not just ones sitting in the front 1/3 of the airplane.
Frontier delivers a more consistent product for all customers, so we don't have a First section, nor Economy Plus. But all of our customers get 33 inch pitch and DirecTV and good quality service and food service matched to the stage length. I'll take that over a United 737 with crackly audio and 31 inch pitch and buy-on-board.
Exit rows are assigned solely at the airport - my take is that there are enough problems associated with people not qualified to sit in the exit row that outweigh the benefit of having them released earlier to people. Or just old-fashioned thinking. However, the company does take safety seriously, even new CSAs are trained on how to operate the exits in case help is ever needed.
Frontier and United loyalists both get perks, it's really up to personal opinion. We love all our customers, but for those that love leather seats and a sandwich a bit more (when you do get that upgrade), we hope you're happy at United!

Update
Just an update on the service issue...
I took UA 902 from IAD to DEN on 11/30. The plane was a 777. We boarded on time and after making my way forward to 1A I was offered a NYT, WSJ and a FT along with my choice of predeparture drinks. The flight attendant then came around with a selection of a dozen or so different movies for the personal entertainment system (I chose "The Longest Yard").
Once we were in the air the FA came around and greeted me by name, engaged in some friendly banter, took my drink order (Cabernet for me) and offered me either chicken marsala or spinach stuffed shells. I went with the stuffed shells (went better with the Cabernet). A few minutes later out came the glass (not plastic) of Cab and the warm roasted nuts. Shortly thereafter came the tablecloth and the entre along with a dinner sald and choice of balsamic vinegrette or ranch dressing. Another FA was moving through the cabin with bottles of wine topping off glasses. The food doesn't deserve 5 Michelin stars but is very good.
After I was finished, my tray was removed, I was given more wine and offered chocolate mousse pie. After dessert I reclined my seat back raised the leg rest and put the movie on the personal TV. The rest of the flight I was offered more wine and received great service.
F9 offers very good service, akin to the type of service I always receive in Economy Plus. With UA (and E+) I get the nice service AND 35" - 36" of pitch, a blocked middle seat (if available) and the ability to preselect emergency exit row seats when I book my ticket (even if its months ahead of time). Upgrades to F or C are a huge bonus!

You can tell my my screen name that once I did fly UA often. Now, there's no way I'd give up F9 for UA. I am happier as an F9 Ascent than I was as a UA Premier.
At UA, I ran a good chance of sitting in E-Minus, perhaps the worst coach class in the air, rather than being upgraded. So in return for just a chance to have some perks in the front of the plane, I will gladly take the uniformly friendly attitude I see from F9 employees who seem genuinely glad that I do business with their company, as well as the most comfortable domestic coach seat available.
As an aside to UA admirers who post here, don't try to convince alot of us who have departed UA to return, even if F9 doesn't go to Hawaii. You're happy, we're happy. Life is good.
