Well, CX crew see your seat blinking on their tablets until they acknowledge the proper greeting has been delivered. That combined with a pretty strict career-path requirements tend to help adhering to the process!

Quite a many years ago I flew with them as OWS, and the purser still came up to introduce herself and thank me for being an OW elite. I was flabbergasted, as this never had happened before.

Eh? Do they only do that to Finns just to unsettle them?

I never had acknowledgement in Y on CX as OWS or OWR. I have not tried with OWE.

I'll report back in a month if they personally greet a OWS

They sure do, you will even receive a pair of noise-cancelling headphones!

I, on the other hand, will report back in a week if they acknowledge me as a lowly OWR.

They sure... don't? I flew on CX thrice as OWS and twice as OWR. Not even once did I get an hello.

Oh... It probably depends on the crew and how much of a hurry they're in because on all of my (few) CX flights I've witnessed a personal welcome to a OWS. Well, then I'm looking forward to Steve_Hun's report!

According to the manual, CX greet OWE and OWS. They likely prioritize in that order, should the flight be full. I flew two Y flights on KA recently and was greeted and given something on each flight (newspaper or water).

We are already extremely off topic, so if you'd allow me another step in the "wrong" direction... What can I expect as in-flight service on KA? I'll have a flight w/ them in May HND-HKG and was just wondering if there is any food service, or is it "food and beverages are for purchase"?

KA has hot food service included in the fare.

IME, KA delivers better OWE recognition than CX

Agree wholeheartedly. KA is miles above CX. Let's see how they enhance it with the transition to Cathay Dragon....

HKG-CAN! That is like a linnanmäki ride! Up, up, up, then down down down!
There won't be any recognition during the flight, because there is no time to even meet the customers during the flight. Get your chronometer ready when "Fasten seatbelt sign" is off, because less than 60 seconds later it is turned on.

They do distribute a lovely menu booklet. Before takeoff they distribute "the food", see below.

BTW, on this route I've had the only equipment change I enjoyed. They swapped in a longhaul aricraft once and I was able to sit alone in first.

It's the Chinese HEL-TLL equivalent! Escape the expensive HKG to cheap CAN!
