must be UA? or could it be (existing) lifemiles?

lifemiles 135% bonus just ended

in 2014 - purchased 650K
in 2013 - 400K US “Share Miles”

Lifemiles bonus is still live today -- or at least it was a couple of hours ago. They seem so desperate that they extended the sale by at least 48 hours.

I've purchased millions of Lifemiles, but hoarding lots of them for speculative redemptions several months from now? No, I wouldn't that, as there is risk both from the side of Lifemiles devaluing by hiking up award travel prices and of Star Alliance (and some other partners) getting more stingy with releasing "standard" award space to Star Alliance as a whole or even to select carriers.

If it's COPA or Air Canada, it wouldn't surprise me. If it's one of the GCC3, oh my. :D

My first thought was LM. Second was A3. We shall see.

BTW, twitter feeds say today at noon. But the countdown clock disagrees:

Attention to detail, boys!

Same here, as lifemiles has been pretty close to some with Randy &Co

That said, I really don't see how selling miles for cheap promotes a travel website and attracts the profile you need to get high revenue ad placement. But what do I know... :p

Of course it doesn't. It attracts all customers which no advertiser wants to do business with.

Not sure if the above response was meant to be sarcastic or not, but I would assume that people with the kind of discretionary income to buy lots of miles tend to be in a higher income demographic group than those who lack the discretionary income to buy lots of miles.

Airlines and credit card companies like targeting those with discretionary income, not that this guarantees those playing into that group will be a big hit with advertisers for very long.

Attracting those who only play to game the system is not a viable long-term business strategy.

ETA: And the IF guys know this. A major part of the pivot here is to try to attract a more profitable consumer segment.

Does that mean geared more towards the "general public" or less-frequent travelers?

Every promotion on MP has brought a flood of one-post wonders to the site, but done nothing to create meaningful content.

Well...Friday noon has come and gone.

Almost into happy hour on the east coast.

Friday night launch!?!?!?!?

Clock still says 'wait til tomorrow':

Just about everyone seeking profit improvements pivots to try attract a more profitable customer segment. But it's easier for firms to go after consumers that are already around than for firms to try to (i) create a new, more profitable consumer segment or (ii) migrate consumers from one consumer segment to a more profitable consumer segment.

Does the new InsideFlyer want the customers to be the product and its more profitable customer segment to be corporate sponsors?

Is that a rhetorical question? ;)

The real question for me is, will those products (the former active MP members) continue to also be the unpaid workers? The founders on MP for the most part never bothered to create content. E.g., Gleff was way too focussed to grow his blog to bother to break news on MP. Perhaps more lucrative for him, but then it's hardly a surprise that MP went down the drain.

Interesting, so I'm guessing other foreign language sites will be part of the new conglomeration as well
