"up to" means probably little discount, but 150% bonus + 50% discount would mean 'getting' 100K miles per 33K miles bought
must be UA? or could it be (existing) lifemiles? lifemiles 135% bonus just ended http://www.ausbt.com.au/avianca-life...liance-flights = buy and book immediately (can often change?) ben > in 2014 - purchased 650K in 2013 - 400K US “Share Miles” I've purchased millions of Lifemiles, but hoarding lots of them for speculative redemptions several months from now? No, I wouldn't that, as there is risk both from the side of Lifemiles devaluing by hiking up award travel prices and of Star Alliance (and some other partners) getting more stingy with releasing "standard" award space to Star Alliance as a whole or even to select carriers. If it's COPA or Air Canada, it wouldn't surprise me. If it's one of the GCC3, oh my. :D |

BTW, twitter feeds say today at noon. But the countdown clock disagrees: http://content.screencast.com/users/...10-02_0916.png Attention to detail, boys! |

That said, I really don't see how selling miles for cheap promotes a travel website and attracts the profile you need to get high revenue ad placement. But what do I know... :p

Of course it doesn't. It attracts all customers which no advertiser wants to do business with.
Airlines and credit card companies like targeting those with discretionary income, not that this guarantees those playing into that group will be a big hit with advertisers for very long. |

Not sure if the above response was meant to be sarcastic or not, but I would assume that people with the kind of discretionary income to buy lots of miles tend to be in a higher income demographic group than those who lack the discretionary income to buy lots of miles.

ETA: And the IF guys know this. A major part of the pivot here is to try to attract a more profitable consumer segment. |

The real question for me is, will those products (the former active MP members) continue to also be the unpaid workers? The founders on MP for the most part never bothered to create content. E.g., Gleff was way too focussed to grow his blog to bother to break news on MP. Perhaps more lucrative for him, but then it's hardly a surprise that MP went down the drain. |
