An Aggretsuko 787 would get me to go out of my way to try to get on one, especially if the boarding music is death metal.

Some news from the EVA Air GM. Seems like the 787s will come with new biz (royal laurel) seats. He's quoted in Taiwanese local newspaper UDN saying that the new business class seats will be designed by a well-known international firm and will come with a refreshing look while guaranteeing a wow factor.

I don't quite understand that part:

其皇璽桂冠艙的座椅是國際知名公司設計,將有耳目一新的氣象,絕對會讓乘客一眼看到就不自覺發出「哇」一聲 。

since the current RL seats are designed by a well-known international firm, right? Are we supposed to make the 哇 sound when we see the cabin or see the seat?

This also implies they won't be Hello Kitty planes since we would be making the Meow sound instead

With all the awards the CI 77W cabin won and first major rollout without K Chang, the pressure is on!

In the article, they're referring to a redesigned seat in RL for the two new 787 that should be delivered in the second half of the year. I'm guessing the focus (of the redesign) is the seat rather than the cabin.

some comments from BR president in the Chiang Mai launch about new routes and plans..
new destinations possible are Penang and Yangon. They flew to both of these destinations before so if it happens it will be resumption. It seems like time slots are an issue for them. (Maybe at TPE? Don't think penang and yangon are difficult to get slots, but it seems that they had difficulty getting slots in chiang mai.. )
India and new Australia and Europe destinations are under evaluations (though they have been saying it for the past 2 years.. nothing happened.)

787 will go first Osaka, Hong Kong, Macau, Hanoi (surprise!) and then Brisbane later.

TPE has a gate shortage in the morning. Not all remote gates are connected to the fuel hydrant system, which means those spaces are for RON only.

When is the new terminal opening in TPE?

BTW, I'm really surprised that BR is still officially only receiving 4x 787-9. Seems like they could really use a bunch of these. The 787-10 will come later to replace A330 in regional routes and up gauge but 4x 787-9 will only allow BR to operate 2 long haul routes (with some regional turns in between).

I agree, it seems like the 787-9 would work well for BR, opening up new LH cities (IAD, BOS, DFW, SAN, SJC, ATL, + Europe) that can't justify the 777s.

The 789 acquisition is a test order for them. If they are happy with the planes, they'll top up with actual orders. Current 4 are all leased.

New terminal 3 for TPE is scheduled to open in the 2nd half of 2021 or later.

If they top up, that's a lot of new planes coming in. Will need to open up a lot of new destinations to fly!

If they do top up, they will most likely end quite a few 777 leases(most likely B-16703-B-16709) and send all the A330s away.

According to the annual report of 2017, A332s will be leaving the fleet next year as the # of crew certified to fly the longhaul flights dwindle. Most have been sent to conversion training for 777/A333/A321. First flight attendant class of the 787 type will be receiving their type rating in the next week!

Also, once they are able to, we should expect to see a rebanking of flights that will allow NEA to SEA connections and NEA to Oceania connections.

That seems logical... return older 77W to GECAS and replace them with brand new 789.

As for new stations, I guess BOS, SJC, and IAD are the type that may work. DFW maybe tough nut to crack unless BR and AA code share. ATL is out of the question. For Europe, I see BR using 789 to fly non-stop to AMS and perhaps adding MAD or BCN if air rights can be worked out.

Also, 789 will probably be used to down gauge some routes like VIE non stop and ORD,

Are the 787-10s capable of reaching the west coast?
