The Hilton Diagonal (as per enviroian'spost) is a lot closer to the airport than the 4P, so not a good comparison.

But all taxis are required to accept credit cards, and of course a tip is never to be expected (it's up to you if you want to round up to the next Euro or so).
Looks like you've found one of the few cowboys out there, most taxi drivers in Barcelona are very correct.

There is a Hilton Diagonal on Diagonal Avenue and a Hilton Diagonal Mar by the waterfront area.
I assume you are talking about the one on Avenue Diagonal.
Last year, I took a cab from BCN to the Hilton Diagonal for about 27 euros, if I remember correctly.

Sitting at BCN lounge now ready to head home. Cabify was pretty much seamless except my only complaint was I couldn’t find my driver when I was picked up Friday morning. We played hide and seek for 15 minutes only to eventually find him in the parking garage. I didn’t realize I would be charged waiting time for this in addition to my fare. There is no ride share signage at all.

I did stay at the Hilton on diagonal ave. The cabify this morning was €25 to BCN.

You could have been close to your hotel by then, in a normal taxi. But I have given up on telling visitors to use taxis in Barcelona (and especially on arrival at BCN) - they don't listen anyway and insist stubbornly on doing what they would do at home.

"When in Rome..." does not mean a lot anymore these days, especially if the Romans don't have an app for it...
