Making Silver mid-flight?

Hello. I've just flown KIX-DXB-CMB in F and I made silver tier on the KIX-DXB leg. However on my statement the welcome to silver level date is after the DXB-CMB leg, so I therefore haven't received the silver 25% bonus. Is it worth me pursuing this? Does anybody have any experience of this?

Thanks in advance.

Generally, there is a large time lag between you qualifying (getting enough miles) and your silver memebership being entered into the system. If you want those 25% extra miles, I am sure that you could put up a good case to skywards as to why you should receive them. I don't see why they would say no, unless the person you talk to is not co-operative.

Cheers

More than ok . ..

Just call Skywards and give them your details; they will see when your blue to silver ticked over and will give you the 25% bonus on the spot; these guys tell you that the system is a bit slow i.e. takes 3-4 days to assess tiers.

Thanks. Will give it a try and call Skywards.

By the way, after travelling DXB-KIX in F on the A345, flying business seems like cattle class now. Never flown Emirates before. Not a bad way to start.

Has this happened to you?? or are you submising that they will just do it?
I became silver syd-dxb and the refused to give me the tier points then I became gold on another lhr-dxb and so didnt get the 50% on the dxb syd leg. when i called melbourne they refused to give me the points and said that the computer was the boss.
I wrote and wrote. It just goes in one ear and out the other. they cant get the grasp that one expects the tier credtis on the next leg. and when u look at it its a meisly couple of K ,. but thats just not the point
there is a big thread on it around sept last year.In the end I gave up thats what they want us to do!!

er, just be nice about it and you'll be fine. The Skywards girls at Melbourne are more than willing to help and the computer is not their boss - maybe you just didn't have a good day I booked a flight with the EK freephone number once before CHC was even in the system and still got bonus miles for online booking! Sorry you had bad luck.

I had pretty much the same experience. I got silver flying from MEL to SIN and then continued on to DXB from SIN.

I automatically got the bonus miles not only for SIN-DXB, but also for the whole itinerary - including MEL-SIN.

This was in May 06, just three months ago.

I hit silver on 4 May. By 7 May EK had already sent their silver intro package by international priority FedEX to my home in the US.

I was amazed at how well they handled the whole thing.

I never had to ask for anything.

Having said that, their "limo" service, as mentioned in another thread, is actually a Volvo station wagon (at least in DXB.

In other cities it tends to be around the standard of BMW 5 / Mercedes E / Audi A6 or similar. AFAIK by limo, EK means chauffeur driven.

Cheers

It can vary wildly. The service is contracted out in SYD and AKL. On one trip ex-SYD we told them we had golf clubs and they picked us up in a minivan towing a luggage trailer (albeit the minivan had leather seats). On our return, however, a sleek black BMW coupe awaited us and the clubs fitted in the boot no problem. Similarly, in AKL we had a tired old Ford Fairlane once when the inbound limo was sub-contracted out by the main contractor, but they took us back to the airport in a very pleasant Mercedes. Our last driver in SYD gave us a direct contact business card for the operating company, so next time we're going to call them and specifically request that we don't be picked up by one particularly aggressive driver we've had in the past
