SkyTrax Awards Emirates drop to 5th

The prestigious SKYTRAX awards

Airline of the year, Emirates drop to 5th.

The only top award for Emirates was the best in-flight entertainment for the ICE system but just what percentage of the fleet has ICE?

Is this a wake up call for standards on Emirates, to be beaten by British Airways must be sounding warning bells in Dubai, the one thing I have read on this forum time and time again is the brick-wall and poor attitude from customer service centers outside Dubai.

Lets hope Emirates take note and standards will rise again.

The main problem EK has is inconsistency of service at ALL LEVELS, and I mean all levels. I can list 1000's of occasions during my travel on EK ove rth epast few years.

Intially, I thought that was coz i was flying economy and had a blue skywards membership, but for the past 2 years , i ve been flying only First and Biz on what they call " top standard routes" like JFK-DXB, DXB-KIX, and having a gold skywards but sadly I have observed the worst of the worst...
I wrote several times to them coz i belong to that part of the world, EK is a national carrier fo rme...but no answer

Maybe this could singnal something to those sitting in Dubai , knowing nothing about how bad the New York office treats their "potentioal " customers FOR EXAMPLE

Ive noticed a big drop in their standards in F since first flying F in july last year.
I just dont get excited anymore about flying with them -I thought it was just that I have flown too much but maybe its not just me!
i recently filled out a complaint on a flight and got a reply stating that they were sorry no MCO no pressie at all for my trouble just an feeble excuse!
My friend recently wrote to UA about an economy flight problem and both the pax received a $US200 MCO.
I just dont think they REALLY care at all.

I wouldn't worry about Skytrax. Take a look in the threads relating to the other carriers listed, including those the went up; most agree that Skytrax is a load of rubbish.

I wonder how Emirates ever made it top of that list! Very mixed flight and service experiences, often worn airplanes definitely do not put EK into the top quartile of airlines -- in any class of service!
