A380 Upper Deck Y Reserved for Elites?
On my DXB-MRU flight, the A380 seat map shows Y is from Row 41 to 88. On SeatGuru, it shows there are Y seats on the upper deck. Since Emirates seat map doesn't allow me to switch to the upper deck, are these Y seats reserved for folks with status above Blue?

It depends on the day, they change the aircraft flying those routes on a daily basis depending on scheduling

To my knowledge - neither of the current 2 CPT flights have had Sleeperette seats for ages.
Now that the 3rd flight is using a 2 class configuration - is this now a possibility again ? http://www.rewardflying.com/airlines.../2/13/emirates states that all Boeing 777-300ER feature the 'angled lie flat seating' ... possibly Emirates just haven't got round to updating their aircraft maps on their website ? |
All angled lie flat on this route.
I did it on the 343 2 years ago - not good. |

It depends on aircraft rotation. It's a certain type of aircraft that is assigned, they don't assign routes by seat type. Doing so would make scheduling a nightmare. Until all 777 are updated this is always a possibility.

You can get a free subscription to Expert Flyer and this will usually show the correct seat map for your particiular flight. Unfortunately the EK Source is not fully up to date with seat maps (no 2 class A380 seat maps). As kq747 says, because you are not getting the option to see the upper deck, your flight may have been switched to a 3 class plane. Or maybe flaky IT.... Safe & Happy Travels S |

Travelers in other forums have been able to select upper deck seats seemingly w/o status. They reported a separate tab on the seat selection page for upper deck seats should show up.

bulkhead seats with moving arm rests?
Howdy. First time poster, so tips are welcome. I've been through this page and haven't seen the answer anywhere - please forgive me if I've missed it.
We're 2 adults, 1 baby, 1 toddler flying BHX-DXB-MEL and return, all on the A380. I know that for some A380 configurations (eg british airways) there are bulkhead/bassinet seats where the armrest between 2 seats actually lifts, in the center of the 3-4-3, eg for BA flights this seems to be between seats D-E. Does anyone know if this is true for the Emirates A380, and if so, which seats it applies to? I'm hoping to get seats where my baby can sleep in the bassinet and the toddler can stretch out a bit. It'll be hell either way but slightly less hellish if we can lift an arm rest. We are flying A380-800 for all legs of the trip. thanks gurus. |
The armrest does raise between E and F iirc in row 67 and 80, but not of course on the "bulkhead" seats BC/JK

Had 2K and 3K in First last time but 2K is gone so chose 2 E and F.
Are these OK seats? Seems so and probably better for couples. |
I always seem to get 2K (A380) when my assistant books flights, which is fine. There are often a few empty center aisle seats between LAX and DXB - on a number of occasions, I've asked the attendants to make up my bed in 2K, and I move over to the seat across the aisle to watch television or movies. What I've noticed is that the aircraft seems quite a bit more spacious in the center. Clearly, the seating area is exactly the same - its really the curvature of the fuselage that makes the window seats seem a bit more confining (from the shoulders up). I've not noticed any issues sitting just across a divider while in the center, so I wouldn't worry about flying solo in a center aisle seat. They're all great - I know, some complain about the number of seats on the 380, but once you're in your suite, you (or at least, I) couldn't care less.
