Good to hear, as I am booked in 18H [prefer aisle] on MLE-DXB.

Have a look on this seat portal, pass your mouse over the seat on the map and you can see the desired seat and some comments regarding the area.

It was my oh that booked these as he is quite tall so extra legroom is quite an issue for him.

i am personally not that bothered but I could justify the cost by knowing we would be in a row of 2 rather than 3 😟

Row 67 is available but we didn't choose these due to them being next to the toilets.

i just think that the cost is sooooo high that they should at least let you know that you may not get what you think you are getting.... 😡

If I hadn't posted on here I would have had no idea that the seat maps shown are not correct!

I guess the the question is, what is the probability that we will have a 80a? Is it more likely than not, or is it easier to know the length of a piece of string.

Ah, but if you'd posted ahead of spending the money, you would have been forewarned. ;)

My calculations are 22 from 47 Non ULR frames have seats 80A and 80K. However, it's not that simple as I can see on Flightradar that the route sometimes uses LR frames. 17 from 38 (ish) of these have them, so overall, it's in your favour.

What would you dislike most - another passenger next to you or being closer to the toilets?

It is not that they are not correct but rather that the intended configuration may change closer to the date. If you are in a 2 class A380 then there will definitely be an 80A/K. On the HKG route more, I can see frames with an 80A/K operating the flights about 50%. Less so to MAN but again, it's very much dumb luck. Expertflyer will usually show 80A/K if it is on the intended aircraft.

Ooops sorry. My bad.
Not familiar with Y cabins.

This said, 80 B&C are sold as "extra legroom" seats, right ?
Therefore, there is no ground for a formal complain if there is a 80A seat, as OP didn't buy "duo" seats, how disappointing it may be.

Has anyone found the air con in the front A380 Y cabin a bit more overbearing than the other cabins?

Careful, you'll find the space in front of 81K is mine, not yours ;)

In fact there is one pocket in the distance for 80C, and one on the wall for 80B, above the one for 81A (and vice versa on the other side). I'm not a huge fan of these seats, there is a lot of traffic in from of you at some points in the flight, but the legroom is good.

Not really although their policy of "heating up" the cabin during flights is a bit much. 16hrs is one thing but 75% of 16 hrs in a sauna is another!

Greetings - I'm visiting from my usual home on the BA forum :)

I'm booked on my first EK flight. Sadly it's LHR-DXB in Y (thanks to a cheap client) and I'm trying to figure out seats. As you might surmise, I like a window seat.

I have no status, so I'll have to stump up if I want to pick a seat. So - what are the chances that I'll be able to grab a window seat at checkin, if I don't pay? I appreciate no-one can give me exact information, but if there's a decent chance of a selection of window seats left at that time, I might just risk it.

Looking at the ExpertFlyer at the tomorrow afternoon flights, there are some window seats available - so I'd like to think that you should be able to get one at OLCI [if not too fussy where in the cabin that window seat is].

windowontheAside Sep 11, 2017 3:49 am

Thanks for that. It sounds promising, although I note your caveat - should I be fussy where the seat is?

The regular seat fee isn't that much - is it worth paying to be nearer the front for example? Sorry to be so green - I haven't flown without the perks of status for years!

You're a FT-er, of course you should! :p

It all depends on your personal preference, I guess.

windowontheAside Sep 11, 2017 4:48 am

Good point!

Think I'll leave this one in the lap of the gods. How bad can it be? :D

To follow up with a data point - when I checked in at T-48 there were two window seats left. I'm happy enough since I only need one, but it was a bit closer than I'd thought.

Was it on the A side?
