Tier renewal
Hi All,
I did some research but didn't find the answer to my questions.
I lost my Gold status last year and dropped to Silver. My review date was February. Then it says that I have until Nov 30 to renew my gold status.
I thought we have a whole year ie 12 or 13 months to renew ?
I have two upcoming trips scheduled (and hopefully I will be able to collect enough tier miles to renew my gold status) however the second flight is scheduled mid December. A friend of mine told me that if I purchase the tickets before Nov 30, those tier miles will be taken into account. He told me that it's not the flight date that counts but the date of the purchase.
Is it true? And how come I only have until November to renew the status lost in February ?
Thanks

Here is what I have in my dashboard.

That information is not correct, you earn when your flight lands at the destination (not at transit point).
The dashboard is confusing you, yes you get 13 months but its a rolling period. The system every month looks back 13 months and calculates how many tier miles you earned so determine your qualification. Therefore what it is telling you is if by 30 Nov 2018 you fly 29,072 tier miles you will reach Gold or alternatively if by 28 February 2019 you fly at least 6,622 tier miles you will renew your silver. If you only fly say 6K tier miles then you will drop to Blue on 1 March.

Your friend is extremely wrong. The arrival date counts, as Zol says.
Emirates does not have fixed tier review dates. You can earn status in any rolling 13 month period. In fact you don't even have to wait until the end of the month. If your flight lands on 15 Dec and you then have enough miles in the past 13 calendar months you'll be upgraded a tier. (I say calendar months because it does look at whole months, so 15 Dec means it'll look at 1 Dec 2017 - 15 Dec 2018, not 15 Nov 2017 - 15 Dec 2018

According to your last received points in Nov17, if like you say you have 2 upcoming trips, even though your 2nd trip is in December, your rolling period will change every month, and depending on how many miles you earning for each of the trip, you might renew Gold in December.

Retaining Silver Status
My husband and I are currently Silver status with Skywards. We both need 15,700 miles to retain that Silver status by 31st December, 2018.
We are booked on a flight MEL to LHR on 26th December, 2018, that will give us 9,300 miles which is obviously not enough.
We are then booked on a return flight from Frankfurt on 11th January 2019, also giving us 9,300 miles so we will presumably again be Silver.
Is there anyway that we can stay Silver for that flight FRA to MEL in January? Is it worth calling Emirates to ask? We have upgraded to business from FRA to DXB so will get lounge access in Frankfurt, but we have a 3 hour transit in Dubai and if we lose our Silver we will have no lounge access unless of course we pay $100 which is a little too steep.

I am not sure why my post got moved to the end of a different one, any idea?
I have just called Emirates and they say that we will immediately return to Blue status on 31st December. There is apparently no leeway whatsoever and no way of having it extended other than booking another flight.
I mentioned the two months referred to and he said it was "nonsense". His word not mine.
So thanks for the reply but it appears nothing can be done.

In any case, if you calculate a 13 month rolling period as at 31 January you can figure it if you will be able to renew your Silver status or not depending on how you flew the rest of the year.

There are two important dates, the first is your review date and the second is the tier expiry date. If 31 December is your review date then you will remain as Silver until 28 Feb, however if your tier expiry is 31 December then the agent is correct and you will drop to Blue status but it is no "nonsense".
In any case, if you calculate a 13 month rolling period as at 31 January you can figure it if you will be able to renew your Silver status or not depending on how you flew the rest of the year.

The 'review date' (not sure if it is officially called this, but anyway) is at the end of the 12th month after qualifying for the tier. Then you still have 2 months of Silver benefits (lounge access at DXB, booking at business class counters and priority boarding). If you also get Silver bonus Skywards I don't know.

Look here for your review date
https://www.emirates.com/account/uk/.../my-statement/
and here for your expiry date (both require you to be logged in)
https://www.emirates.com/account/uk/english/manage-account/digitalcardprint.aspx
You should see 2 months difference (I certainly do).

Thanks everyone. I finally got on to Emirates via a Live Chat and the agent confirmed what you have all said. Which is totally different to what "James" said when I phoned the local Australian office.
My review date is 31/12/18, and my digital card expires 28/2/19 so I presume I keep the benefits til then. I am unsure though if I will return to Silver once we are back from our return flight. It depends if they are talking tier points earned in a 12 or 13 month period. If it is 12, then I won't have enough, but if it is 13 (from 1/1/18 to 31/1/19) then I do.
