We are booked on a flight MEL to LHR on 26th December, 2018, that will give us 9,300 miles which is obviously not enough.
We are then booked on a return flight from Frankfurt on 11th January 2019, also giving us 9,300 miles so we will presumably again be Silver.
Is there anyway that we can stay Silver for that flight FRA to MEL in January? Is it worth calling Emirates to ask? We have upgraded to business from FRA to DXB so will get lounge access in Frankfurt, but we have a 3 hour transit in Dubai and if we lose our Silver we will have no lounge access unless of course we pay $100 which is a little too steep.
You will retain Silver benefits for 2 months after you 'loose' the status, so you should be OK. Also, from the 31st December, when your current status has expired, you go back to the 13 month rolling period to establish your status. Depending on the travel pattern with which you achieved Silver, you are likely to be back to Silver after your return flight (as you also mention).
