Broken seat and ICE first class
long story short here....
icn to dxb
the controller doesn't work thus the seat can't be adjusted and the ice system doesn't work. The only thing that worked for a majority of the flight was the buttons on the actual seat so she could be full flat or fully upright.
They offered 15,000 miles which is useless bc I am USA based and rarely fly them. I disputed half the fare (basically a business fare) w/ amex
what is fair and what should I settle on? I want to be fair and not trying to stick it to them. Just sucks when you pay that much and basically the seat should have said out of order.

If you could move to another seat, then I think 15k is an adequate goodwill gesture.
If you couldn't move to another seat (even downgrading to J) then I think 30-40k miles (enough for an upgrade next flight) is acceptable, or the cash equivalent. Half the sector cost I think sounds reasonable - although you were taken from A to B as contracted, and presumably could use the other features of the fare, a working seat is a large part of the product, imho.
I had a similar situation on DXB-IAD in J - I accepted 30k miles.

When the tablet didn't work and the doors wouldn't close the crew gave me a choice of a bottle of something (not Paradis or JW Blue
) and when i wrote in they restored all the miles I'd used to upgrade.
