Seat selection

Hi guys

I'm flying with Emirates (economy) at the end of March to Mauritius for 2 weeks for honeymoon from Manchester. I've looked at booking seats in advance and it's an extra Ł120 for both of us.

All we are really want is to sit next to each other, we aren't too fussed where. I believe that seat selection is free 48 hours before departure, and I'm wondering whether it's likely that we'll still be able to get 2 seats together then? I'm assuming so, but would like to know if anyone has experience of this as its my first time flying with Emirates.

Thanks in advance

Hi Flannerz and welcome to the Emirates forum and congratulations on the upcoming wedding. Hopefully you'll stick around and join in the discussions and am sure you'll get spot on advice for all of your Emirates questions.

So, to your question. It is obviously important to you that as newlyweds you will want to sit together and as you must be on saver tickets, the only way of guaranteeing this unfortunately is if you pay for seat selection, however, there will be a lot of other passengers in the same boat as you and the majority, I would imagine, will most likely defer until OLCI opens at T-48 (to note that this should be for your onward connection at this time too). I would say that your chances at OLCI would be pretty good to get two seats together but, you are on fairly busy routes so if I was in your shoes and wanted definite confirmation that you were both sitting together, I would pay for seat selection thus removing one of the things that could spoil what should be a most memorable trip. Others may advise differently but the ultimate decision is yours and the risks that run with it.

Whatever you decide, I hope it all goes well, and please have a read through the forum.

Once again welcome and congratulations.

Safe & Happy Travels

Somewhat different topic from the OP, but has anyone seen a case where the whole F cabin is zeroed out except for my own seat? It's not that the cabin is full; I was able to call and make a change, and there are still seats for sale, but the seat map shows nothing available. For all of the other segments it looks fine.

No, I haven't seen that either, my upcoming F sectors just show the usual 3 x left side suites blocked out (380 seat map), the seat I am in obvs blocked out and a row of 2 in the middle taken on one sector, everything else still showing as available.

Which route? It could be that they are going to switch from a 3 class to 2 class. Hopefully not!

It's AKL-DXB, so I doubt they'll make the switch. God forbid
