Good summary of HON - on Lufthansa planes. However the inflight product is much much better on Swiss and Austrian (albeit the latter's small network is a clear disadvantage)

Folks, thanks for the many replies, all of them, I enjoyed reading the views and opinions, great forum.
So, I did promise to come back and post an update as to the outcome of my allegiance shift from EK to BA after a few trips, so here it is:
Was I mad or what? What in the name of Heaven got into me? BA is undoubtedly the most poorly equipped, disorganised, expensive, rude organisation that ever existed. If nothing else it has only re affirmed my decision taken many years ago to avoid them like the plague. The planes are still the nasty old 747s from years ago (Nothing wrong with a Jumbo, except that BA do not maintain or clean them) the service though has not improved a single iota, in fact its worse. Grumpy staff, uncomfortable seats and lousy service.
Silly things like not having any immigration forms on board for entry to Singapore, thats ok, can happen I am sure. But do not tell people that they will be waiting for passengers on disembarkation when they are not. What is the point in that? (I was not affected as just in transit to Jakarta. Saw a lot of people milling around though who obviously where on holidays etc, i.e. no crusty flyertalk veterans, and they were tired from a long flight and getting worked up and worried. Off course the BA ground staff had done a rapid vanishing act).
To can it all this was the first NCL-SIN-CGK trip & I naively convinced myself it was a one off so did the exact same trip again 2 weeks later. This is where BA proved it has some good traits i.e. its ability to be consistent! Yep , goes without saying another terrible trip.
Anyway, sorry for the rant (I expect I will incur the wrath of the BA supporters club). I will call an end to it now as I am sure you have built the picture. In summary I would say that Emirates is a vastly superior product where things can go occasionally wrong whereas BA is a budget airline charging premium prices where things are guaranteed go wrong.
Happy Trails & See you in EK Lounge Dubai if you are this Saturday night

YMMV but BA treats me just fine in CW. Don't know about the back. They have an inferior F product so I never bother with it but the CW hard and soft product are still excellent-- especially on the 747 upper deck.
I think EK 380 J hard product is superior to BA CW but not the other acft types. And EK soft product is better overall, but I think BA is very good too.

But if you're not at Concourse A, it is a hassle. Immigration queues if you choose to leave DXB are painfully slow and long, despite Fast Track.
Though the lounges may not all be as good, I would much rather transfer at SIN, BKK, MUC, ZRH, AUH etc than DXB.

I don't think the transfer process at DXB, and more so the arrival process, warrants any favoritism towards that airport, despite the ease of boarding from the lounge for F, J, Skywards Silver and above at Concourse A.

I've been using e-Gate for a few years now. I had to queue a couple of times this year because I was with someone who didn't have e-Gate. Even in the Fast Track lane immigration took over an hour!

Which is exactly why I always book Marhaba for my wife who cannot get eGate because our son is in her passport. With Marhaba the longest she has ever had to queue was about 10 minutes. Fast Track should be renamed "Sometimes Fast but often Slow Track" because it certainly lives up to the second half of that name regularly.
