Changes to emirates

So what would you want to see happen? Lets exclude new routes and the costs going up.

I'd like to see a better j product I think is too narrow and the middle seat is terrible. Something like cx new j would be nice.

I'd also like a proper op up procedure followed similar to the way I understand ba run op ups ( I understand this is happening over the next 12 months with the new fare buckets etc).

On the above maybe even another tier that distinguishes between golds who just hit 50 and people like me who hit 75-100 but won't hit plat....

Finally I'd like the abolition of sky cruisers and see suites across the fleet.

I would like to see EK outstations in the Middle East run check-in and boarding better, especially run F and J correctly. Quite often there is no control over boarding; a mad rush by all once boarding is called. In DOH last time they simply did not offer F/J check-in; where boarding is always by bus, F is frequently left standing in a small room while J and Y are herded onto busses. F then only gets on the plane at the last minute, and the poor crew are rushed doing the on-the-ground F service.

I would also like to see the meal-by-tray service removed from medium-haul F and long-haul J. I despise it beyond measure.

1. I'd like to see better availability of both redemption and upgrade rewards and Gold nominee for Plats to be treated 'at par' with tier earning gold pax.

2. Chauffeur drive for Plats irrespective of class of travel.

3. Better FF recognition inside of the a/c.

4. More responsive cabin crew, especially when the call button has been pressed.

1. Restore availability of flex reward in F. Make it only available for Skywards members (not even QF).

2. Revamp the menus in F, by restoring them to pre-2007 (when it used to be proper).

3. To add to JXTC point about medium haul meals in F. I want NOT a J menu with extra items here and there, but a distinguishable menu altogether.

4. Extend shower length on the A380 by at least 50%. It sort of feels short changed when you've spent $$ and still have to race against the clock to get yourself wet (feels like a cheap game on facebook).

5. Have an app for smart phones. The old web interface, though fast, is outdated.

6. Remove those cheap aroma therapy trays out of F. They're a pain to open, pointless to use (except perhaps the soothing gel and the dry shower).

7. Have maintenance inspect F suites after EVERY flight. The last 3 flights I was on there were issues with the seat every time (once was A/C vent was not working, twice the leg rest wouldn't extend at the knee level (to make the seat deeper).

8. On the issue of seats, make the mattress in F much thicker and proper. I don't understand why it's so thin and small. Also make the pillow a bit larger, or at least have a second pillow available on demand?

9. Clean those F seats after each flight. Wipe them off, including the controls and remote control. I am tired of having to wipe off dirt every time!

10. Add good quality ear plugs in the amenity kit (all classes).

11. How about adding the ability to take snap shots from ICE onto the USB stick, including the ability to record camera view during take off/landing?

12. Please oh please, have the 'shower girls' clean the onboard spas really well. Just lifting the seat would often reveal all sort of disgusting things.

1. I find the food served on Emirates in J compared to Qatar and Oman Air very poor. They really need to improve in this department not only on the quality of food but the presentation of the food has well. The motivation is obvious: business and first class account for about a third of all airline seats but generate a majority of the revenue. Keeping high-end customers is crucial to the bottom line.

2. Emirates need designer glassware in F/J I feel it will give them a real identity and equally give the customer an extra wow factor.

3. The removal of the J seats on the entire 777-300 fleet and replaced with a layout similar to the A380.

4. I avoid the A380 J cabin if I can, because the service is extremely poor. I would personally take out two rows of seats and then split the cabin into three parts instead. I would then make sure a dedicated team only serves that part of the cabin. Currently the Cabin crew seems to run about in a disorganized format; hence wasted time and forgetting what they were originally were doing in the first place.

5. Allow blocked seats that are not basenet seats to be unblocked for Plats and Gold members especially on A380.

6. More structural system of loading passengers at Dubai after all the passengers are not getting on an easyjet flight.

7. For immediate effect the banning of the egg omelet dish in J

EK food in J (and F) sucks A**, and i can't remember having a decent meal on board in the past 3 years.

Just had a perfectly cooked medium rare tenderloin on another carrier. They too did the tray service in J, but it was ok... i could do without it though.

Nice to see you guys agree with a lot of the things I've been saying. When will EK wake up to themselves? (When the mugs stop paying I guess).

Oh, and I forgot to mention this in my most recent tirade, but it really is a major problem for EK. And that's the timeliness of flights. DXB is such a constraining influence with it's lack of runways, ATC and the like, that approx 99.94% of flights into and out of DXB are late, many by half an hour or more. You can't run a quality airline on this basis.

And here's another stupidity. I'm currently at DXB waiting for he 3 pm flight to FCO. I was also here at 2 am and asked if if could transfer to the 9 am flight, which was also more lightly loaded. I was told by an automaton in ticketing it would cost USD 50, so naturally I said no thanks (I don't have any time commitments in Rome), but I did vow to drink more than $50 worth of champagne, and other beverages, which I am currently partway through. Surely it's not in EK's interest to have me sitting in the business lounge consuming all kinds of goodies for another 6 hours when they could easily have got rid of me hours ago.

And we could go on and on...

I wanted this to be a positive thread...

I do agree with some of the comments. I'd like j to be different than the 380 though but the same concept ie all aisle seats...

Food in j is hit and miss, agreed and the airport is busy - without status and lounge access dxb must be awful for the average y pax hurdling through the masses.

1. I would like to see A380 J seats on entire fleet in J - but I agree that service looks better in 777...
2. Add bottle of cheap mineral water waiting for each pax in Y
3. Better availability of upgrades/rewards flights
4. the more difficult one: change ticketing policy: if someone bought a ticket and later airline is going to make ticket sale and exactly the same flight is now more then 20% cheaper - best airline would return money :> (they can call it 'good deal guaranteed' etc)

I think this is going a bit far. Having a sale earlier or later for business reasons is the airlines' perogative (of course having their fares in line with competition should be a given to begin with!).

However as an earlier poster said same day flight changes on empty flights should be without the fare change penalty. it may be 50usd only, but still this is simple customer service that is 'just' 50 dollars for the airline as well and worth more in customer loyalty.

QF and VA both have the fly early option, though as far as I know on domestic flights within Australia. Since EK is aligning its business model with QF, I can't see why not go this way?
