Sometimes I scratch my head with EK. I spoke with Skywards yesterday in Dubai. They told me Platinum would be officially announced next week and that we would be able to release the news to FT 24-hours prior to official release (but were waiting final sign off from Corporate Comms). I gave them my word that we wouldnt say anything.

Now we all receive this little teaser email... And on their weekend.

Its not hard to work out that these will be the published benefits of Platinum. Not bad at all...F lounge access in DXB for me is the biggest benefit as well as guest access.
If the benefits are what were described in the survey monkey link I will shift my current QR business to EK and reach the 150K target.

I got the email too....obviously I chose all if the above.
If those are the benefits then that would be pretty good....

150k is also a decent qualification point...

Well, I don't see what the point of the survey is... Are they just trying to gauge whether they have selected the right benefits? Of course no one in their right mind would select anything other than "All of the above".

And who will get this new status? Anyone who would have got it in the last 12 months (ie. those who got above 150,000 tier miles within their last qualification year). Or does it only effect the current qualifying year starting from next week?

Everyone has different start and finish dates re qualifying year. In my case, my EK year is Jan-Dec. EK will simply look back to your last qualifying years total tier mile number. Or if you are already in excess of 150K and your year hasn't yet ended, then Platinum status will be yours... (that's my assumption anyway)

I think you could call that humble - not 'out of mind'.

That is what I thought. It makes sense this way.

IF this means that EK customers will have access to the QF F lounges worldwide then it is a very good deal.
