Also my revenue would have been on the low side, as all my ticketing was done out of SIN in SGD and I only buy A class fares. Spend would have been something like US$60K total in the year. Each ticket probably cost me US$4K but it earned 55K tier miles. There are plenty of guys on this board who spend $10-12K per ticket and do it every month.
I'm sure it would be nice to have, but if you're flying in F all the time, the service on the ground and in the air is pretty good. I don't need someone to meet me at the plane (or walk me to the plane), the staff at SIN and MEL wouldn't treat me any better (my main 2 ports) and if I have any sort of issue, I know who to call to get it fixed.

Just checking eightblack, you can use your miles for upgrading friends? We have a flight coming up and have a friend travelling in economy we would like to upgrade with miles if we can. If so do you just do it at the airport or prior?
Many thanks

Yes you can. Do it prior its better, just log in to their booking online, enter your Skywards details and upgrade the desired flight

Qantas's system isn't based on miles per se
If making an "educated" guess based on relative requirements to attain status, I would have said 100k since QF's Platinum status requires 2x the status credits of Gold
