I'm just wondering, there has to eventually be a limit to expansion. What's going to happen when EK can't expand any more?

The majority of people I speak to in the US are well aware of Emirates. EK seem to have a great reputation - it's just that most Americans don't really consider Dubai or the Middle East as a tourist destination.

Routes to the far east are hard to justify as it's a heck of a long way round.

So, people would like to fly EK, but there is nowhere they'd like to go

The Indian people I've worked with over there all try and use EK where possible when travelling home.

I'd say it should be better than iO if I'm flying Mars return. Something along the lines of keeping the cabin empty for me in Y!

A good summary. Also, there is a not so small segment of the US population (just like in all nationalities) who prefer to fly on US carriers, given the choice.

With SYD > LAX, EK could get feed from SEA, YVR, PDX, MEX, and DCA via AS. Who knows, if the SEA-DXB route begins to really succeed and develop a customer base, EK could be the first one on SYD > SEA route, which I think besides HKG is one of the only viable unserved long-houl markets left in SEA.
