This is exactly the kind of inconsistency that gets people so upset with Emirates. I had exactly the same situation as you did back in June - the system showed FLEX miles before purchase and then suddenly switched to SAVER miles after purchase. I had screen shots and everything else and sent them off to Skywards. They refused to honour the FLEX miles shown.
I might have accepted that position if this forum doesn't overflow with stories similar to yours - namely that of honouring the original information provided on the basis of screenshots. Yet, because they do this arbitrarily, they may generate goodwill with you but actually ruin any goodwill from those of us who have been denied in the same situation.

Only 1 flight stands out; a 3 hour hop in F. Spent the whole fligh chatting to the purser and crew. Was told stories of incidents onboard and he let me play around with the laptop looking at different passenger profiles (59 Golds and 1 IO who was very particular about his coffee !)
Other than that, the Gold desk were absolutely great this year with 3 out of 3 requests (two of which were flex/saver issues) honoured within 48 hours.

The more I read this thread, the angrier I become about what was hitherto a largely positive EK year for me.

You are kidding right??
How can EK highlight something for which you have piad to EK???????
EK usualy does well when it ATLEAST delivers for it has been paid.
Fact & this applys to atleast all the premium class's to start with.

I do. They respond that they do not deal with Customer Service issues and that I should contact the following department instead.
Emirates Customer Affairs & Service Audit
P O Box 686
Dubai, UAE
Tel. 971 4 7083611
Fax. 971 4 2864120
[email protected]
If the purpose of the Gold Desk is simply to be given the same generic contact address that I could have used in the first place, maybe its even more useless than I thought.

This is likely to be my only EK highlight for a while until such time as I start flying EK out of SEA (which I could see doing, I liked EK enough to consider it), but...
Fit the Seventh, towards the end.

My highlight was my 1st experience of flying in F. We did LGW-CPT and managed to (ok i planned it!) get 3 out of 4 flights in pvt suites. Couldn't recommend it enough. We also made Gold on the return flight which was an added bonus! Hopefully will get to upgrade with miles (waitlisted, thanks to the info gleaned here) in March (GLA-DXB) otherwise i'm back to the back of the plane :~((

Got to fly ICN-DXB on 380 in F and was only passenger in F cabin. Was like flying on a luxury private jet. Took 2 showers, got extra pjs and goodie bags for family. Not my normal EK experience but one I shall always enjoy!

My most pleasant experience on EK this year followed directly after a real low for me personally. My wife I had gone back to the UK for my mother's funeral and to sort out her house. On the last leg of our return BHX - DXB - PER we were going through the checkout gate on to the aircraft.
The chap checking the boarding passes did a bit of fiddling on his keyboard and tore our J class tickets up. "Giving you a better seat" he said. "Well, I chose those myself and was quite happy" I thought. He gave us seats in F - suites on the 777 - you beauty. The staff were just great and the FA, Charmaine, looked after me above and beyond the call of duty when she learned of my passion for wine. The whole wine thing evolved and I finished with 5 glasses on my table and I took a photo of them (yes, they still had some wine left in them for later tasting). Some time after getting back home I decided to get a T-shirt with the photo copied on the front which is now a constant reminder of that journey and hope for upgrades on future flights.

This year highlight was definitely my first FC experience, got an opup MLE-DXB form C into F (old seating), the flight was quiet uneventful as the flight attendants were more or less busy with themselves... The big surprise happened then in the lounge in Dubai. I asked to change my set to another row where the next seat was empty for my connecting flight to FRA . The lady was asking something to her colleagues, then she looked at me, smiled and said: "Sorry Mr. xxx, I dont will change your blocked seat on today" and handed me a over new boarding pass with 1A
.
Needless to say that I really enjoyed this flight (and lots of DOM, hehe ), it was a pity, I had no camera with me that day, but I took the Suite brochure with signatures from the Cockpit Crew and the Purser. Thank you EK. Many things went wrong the past, but you have made up for all of it this time.

My last EK flight was actually in 2010. DXB-IAH oped up to F. A 17 hour flight in an F suite is not bad at all.
However, it was not good enough to make up for my other issues with EK (documented elsewhere) and I have since moved to AA/BA, and never looked back.
