When I checked in at DXB this morning, my silver status had vanished from my boarding pass. I was pretty sure someone hacked into the account and messed with it, but whatever that was, the flight experience was akin to being iO.

Blame it on EK's excellent crew I guess. Every once in a while you come across someone new to the airline who is still enthusiastic about their job. I was offered a glass of champers in whY, little things like a blanket, an EK pen with the immigration card, glasses of water, extra nuts. Very small touches, but all without asking for anything, and completely due to the crew member's initiative.

And then on arrival I was escorted through arrivals. Certainly made me feel like I was iO.

Or maybe they have created a class even superior to I/O for you .Which is kept quiet.Being the top poster on this section and knowing for a fact that emirates monitors this forum, I would'nt be surprised if it is true.

[QUOTE=WouldLoveToFlyFirst;17368489], the description of the I/O at the top of this thread is a joke.

As I said, what is the tangible benefit beyond being a Gold? I don't get why people get excited about an escort to the security line - I can walk perfectly fine there by myself.

Crew & ground staff fawning over you just gives off the impression to other people as well that you've got an 'entitlement' mindset about yourself.

Just leave me be

seems you never experience a real top tier like HON status ... it really changes the world in case of any irregularities.

You might need to change your FT handle then. Increasingly, the very difference between First and Business is the extra attention you get.

Hi JOBU,

Access to F Lounge or F Lounge in DXB???

All Golds have access to all outstation EK Lounges(AFAIK only HKG can be an hit or miss if you are in Y though). The only exception is the F Lounge in DXB where access is strictly limited to F Pax's or I/O or VIP's. This policy is very stringent & is adhered too irrespective of how many tier miles you do in EK J on a yearly basis.

So there is something missing in what your colleague told u as far as I can see it. or he/she is a VIP.

Safe Flying

EGT

Crikey, 700K in J (I'm assuming you mean 700,000 tier miles). This seems a horrendous amount and I would have thought that anyone who was doing that sort of volume/amount, would have to come up on the radar to someone within EK.

SIN-LHR return in J is 21,000 tier miles. That's 33 round-trips in a year!

Or maybe it's all F, but you are still looking at 20 odd round trips!!!
